  • Rich mogul and preparedness doesn't mix. This guy made me mad

Yesterday a person contacted me and asked for me to come over and look at his preps and to evaluate his preparedness level and security. I drove to the home which was located in a very, very nice neighborhood. I am talking million dollar homes. I knocked on the door and was meet by the nanny. Then after waiting for about five minutes in the east wing where there was a picture of the guy I was about to talk to with Joe Biden Ugh. I meet Mr. X. He was a big time wheeler and dealer type and he told me the following:
As he looked me up and down then saying with a high class I’m better than you attitude, I have friends in high places and I need to get prepared for what’s coming our way here in the near future. Then Mr. X says I had my employees go to the preparedness store and by everything I need. Your Job is to inform me if I need anything else. We walked into the 6 car garage and there was at least $10,000 worth of gear, water jugs, food, and anything else you could imagine. We had 3 people (his “employees”) following us and On the top of one of the stacks was a Sun Oven. I started to explain to Mr. X how if an event were to take place being able to cook of boil water without power is a must. Mr. X points to an employee named Mark. He tells Mark “listen to what this man has to say about this oven thing because this will be your job”. Mr. X gets a phone call and excuses himself for a moment. I talked to Mark and the two others and said what is this guy’s deal. Mark told me Mr. X had been getting calls from his friends in power and was getting paranoid. I asked Mark so if something was to happen what is your plan. Mark told me he was not sure but stated that he would be taking care of his family, not Mr. X.
Mr. X came back and said “Ok what do you think” I told Mr. X you have a lot of work to do and it is going to take some time to get everything set up and tested, then show you how to use everything. Mr. X Informed me that he would not be taking part in the setup, testing and learning how to use the items and finished it up with that is why I employ people. At this point I am mad at this guy and can’t stand him. I let go and said it. I said “Do you really thing that if we enter any type of event your employees are going to be here waiting on you hand and foot while their families starve at home. I followed up by saying if it gets bad enough you will be on your own and you will probably end up a victim if you don’t learn how to survive on your own. (I might have thrown in some language I shouldn’t have) I could see on his face no one has talked to him this way probably in a long time.
He stood there for about 30 seconds not saying a word and as I was about to walk away he said just do your job and teach the staff. The Staff I thought as he walked away. I spent most of the day with the three guys who were really cool and Mr. X paid me to teach these guys how to start their survivalist path. At the end of the day I asked the guys “Ok what are your thoughts” Mark looked at the other guys and said Mr. X is toast if something happened, and added I know me and my family will be just fine.
I took a few things away from this experience.
    1) No matter how much money you have it may not keep you alive in a survival situation.
    2) If this guy really is connected to someone in power then something bad is coming.
    3) Seeing how rich people live makes me MAD. (understatement)

Yeah ... You need to have SOME experience, to have any chance, or a reserved bunk, in a D.U.M.B.
I guess yer "powerful elitist client" just does not have enough friends that are quite powerful enough !

Biblically, it sounds like, at some point, "people will tremble in the caves and ask the caves to fall on them" ... or something like that ... sounds pretty harsh. And it also sounds as if the sky may grow dark so ...
... My GOAL ZERO (Elite Guide 10 Solar Adventure kit) prolly won't work too good.

I was just watching that PBS doc on Hiking the Continental Divide Trail ...
... Of course, there is no hunting or gardenning allowed, along it ... but there is a planned series of clean water sources (suitable for hiker filtration) ...
... Now ... these folks all had their food (and re-supplies) drop shipped to Post Offices and Resorts, along the way.
Still ... Seems like good (basic) practice and an opportunity to scout many different eco-habitats.

I'll be camping all over Texas, from now, through next Memorial day (the OFF season) ... I want to do the cold-weather thing ... maybe I'll plan to be ON the beach, in the dead of winter ... hmmmm ... Really looking forward to it !

These are the people that will die sitting near a huge pile of supplies.

Actually he better hope he has some really moral "staff" that can keep their mouths shut.....

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

At least you helped some people out and you still got paid. Man I would have pumped him as to what's coming down (maybe you can still talk with those other guys).

I agree with Claymore. See what you can learn and then let us know if something is going down. Like a snowball down a cliffslide, they start off small....

I did like what Mark said about Mr. X being toast. Sounds to me that eventually the staff may just have some ideas of their own.

I would guess this guy may be privileged to info we aren't, so that is kind of interesting in itself. Too bad you couldn't get a timeframe about when Mr. X was expecting things to happen. But I think it is pretty great that these guys got paid to learn from you. They obviously intend to use that knowledge for there benefit. That's kind of like fringe benefits for them, for having to deal with Mr. X all this time. So you still got paid to help folks out. Incidentally, the folks you helped are probably more deserving and more capable of making use of, the information you passed.

I was so mad when I left the residence I wasn't thinking straight. After reading some of your comments I thought about it. I know Mark is going to be a survivalist, the other two they were interested but on the fence. I tried to call Mark cause he is the one I deal with anyway to probe for info and all I got was how his boss is a jerkface and would die of starvation with food all around. The info Mark gave me was genaric about moodys downgrade coming no matter what and that Mr. Jerk told Mark that anything could be coming soon and was evasive. Mark said that Mr. Jerk is good friends with someone I have never heard of but says they are in washington and that guy is very worried. SO Mr. Jerkface is worried and expects his staff to stick by his side if something does happen. Mark Said Yeah Right. I told Mark about this forum and Im sorry for telling everyone about our conversation but I think it should be put out there.

I hope Mr X has security of some sort. I would think that gangs will be heading straight for any McMansions as they know there will be some easy booty taking there. No gate/fence will keep them out if LE has gone home to take care of their families.

Urban, stay in contact with Mark as he sounds like he might need some further assistance with his prepping. Steer him in the right directtion as he may get overwhelmed quickly if he thinks SHTF time is close. By keeping in contact, he may pass on some more info which would/could help you out.

When the big wigs start getting worried, something is definately is up. Staying in contact with Mark and keep giving him suggestions on how/what to prep, he may start to trust you more and give you more confidential information.
