It's better to do 1 thing than think about 5.

" Better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it." First time I heard that was on Lonesome Dove.
"Well, you know what they say: 'Good judgment comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgment. '"

          Two (2) spring to mind:

          Adapt, Improvise, Overcome

Use up, Make do or do without.

And from my days as a young soldier:

Lock and Load, Ruck Up, and Move Out

In the same vain as store what you eat, eat what you store:

              What? Beans and rice again?
Pray for Obama, Psalms 109:8. Before you judge me, look it up.

I think my tin foil is too tight.

The first one that came to mind is:

Proper Planning and Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance

                also:

                "stupid is as stupid does"
                measure twice, cut once
                Brokedownbiker

If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Gov't, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin
                Sam Adams

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
                John Adams

                  The Rule of THREES :

                  1) You can survive for ~THREE minutes, without breathable air.
                  2) You can survive for ~THREE hours, (in extreme conditions) without regulating your core body temerature (hypo-thermia, heat-stroke).
                  3) You can survive for ~THREE days, without purified (potable) drinking water (one gallon per day ... two tabs/quart .. 8 drops Clorox/qt .. wait 1 hr).
                  4) You can survive for ~THREE weeks, without proper nutrition (food, salts, vitamin-C vs Scurvy, etc.).

ATTITUDE ! : And, of course, you may not even last the first three minutes, if you are not lucid, and optimistic!

Then (of course), there is ...

MURPHY'S LAW : Anything that CAN go wrong, WILL go wrong !

As for THE FAITH ? ... If God is with you (if YOU are with God, more-like), nothing can bring you down and ...
... If God is against you? ... No amount of planning and fancy gear is gonna save your hyde !

Those are my main guidelines ... They actually are very helpful, in prioritizing and planning. The US Navy LIVES by Murphy's Law ... Really!

Hope this helps ... I can see these were not previously mentionned, on THIS thread. And, I KNOW these are a valuable contribution ... by experience.

But, for me ? ... FAITH comes first ! (He designed the set and wrote the script ! ).
