Hair Care Post SHTF

Not so sure my hair is waiting on a slow crash.....I think its falling out faster than economy is crashing.......What gets me though is God has a sense of humor....What does not grow on top starts sprouting from my nose and ears.....

I HATE facial hair on men (women too for that matter). I keep thinking of food and other nasty stuff falling into it. Yuck! How unsanitary, not to mention body louse etc, etc. So, after thinking about it, I'll buy a straight razor for all the men in my life.

Okie you shave with a straight razor? WOW I have never learned that skill, always afraid of slicing my own throat...

I've got a brand new, still in the box set of antique hair clippers (manually operated) that my MIL found at a yard sale years ago. She said she immediately thought of me when she saw them and knew I'd put them to good use when things get bad.

Another advantage to shaving your head is ticks DO NOT like it. Tick season at my bol is bad but since I've been shaving I haven't had one.

Even though I stockpile hotel and travel shampoos and the such for my wife and son, me on the other hand, I am 29 and loosing it so I guess a SHTF situation would probably give me a "head" start on the shaved head couldesac do.

Scissors should be enough for me and the family. Hair styles won't improve on my looks so scissors can keep the hair short enough.

A guy I worked with at the grocery store used to get hair cuts twice a year. He would get it cut as close as possible without shaving his head and then let it grow out for 6 months. As for me I would probably just have dw cut it with scissors. That way if she didn't like the way it turned out it would be all her fault.

As far as shaving goes I can't stand a beard. After about 5 days it gets too itchy and I can't sleep with it so I have a lot of disposable razors stocked up. They are pretty cheap in big bulk bags and would also make good barter items.

Speaking of the lice thing, few years back we got into the seed ticks, like we had hundreds on our heads, and they used that quell shampoo on us and killed them all off!!

I have to go with a shaved head. A shaver is not a huge drain under a photo-v setup.

The whole lice thing...... not my way of dealing with issues. Yes, I know that there are chemicals out there to deal with this problem. But a shaved head prevents this by far.

unfortunately keeping the head shaved is a fair bit of work n takes time on upkeep.. time that i do not have now let alone if i had shtf stuff to do.. eats razors up too..
crossbow any hair will dread if you just stop brushin it n quit using commercial shampoos with residues.. just separate them from the others on occasion or they eat one another :D n the bonus is one does not need hair ties as your hair serves as its own tie and can roll those puppies up and use them for a pillow too

course i am just half joking bout the dreads they are not for everyone but everything i have typed is truth.. i have been bald, shaved head n dreaded.. by far easiest upkeep are the dreads

I would shave my head in the event of something happening. Lice freaks me out.

You can look up how to do corn rolls (a.k.a cornrows) on youtube. You will not be able to do it to yourself. You need someone to do it for you. It takes a long time!!! So be prepared to sit for awhile. Good luck!!
