On Fox they were talking about it and how audiences LOVED it!! I saw a preview of it and it looked GREAT!! I am going to get the audio CD of the book and listen to it before I see the movie.

I read a LOT, always have. It's nothing to go through 3-5 books a month. But I could NOT get this book going. I was told by so many folks that essentially you weren't a patriot if you hadn't read that book LOL, so I bought the audiotapes. This was in the 90's. Even the audio tapes were something like 26 tapes. I made it to about tape 4.....

Admin: I'm like you and I got about half way through the book. I just couldn't take it anymore and returned to the library.

I read Atlas Shrugged about 2 years ago. It took 2 months but I was able to slug through it. A friend told me the problem with Ayn Rand's writing is if something can be said in 5 words she writes 500 to say it.

As for the movie, it isn't the worst movie I've ever seen. And if you've read the book it makes a whole lot more sense. The film moves VERY fast when compared to the book and there are parts left out, such as the flashback scenes in the book. But then again, adapting a 1200page book into movie form would be tough. All in all the movie isn't horrible, but I like the book better

South Park season 2 episode title Chicken Lover ruined any desire for me to read that book.

I am conservative, tried and true. However I am a Christian first, and I cannot accept Ayn Rand's view of God and Christianity. She was a devout atheist, and she compared Christianity to socialism/communism, very unfavorably.

God bless Ayn Rand, I hope and pray she found the Truth before it was too late, but I don't think I will be attending that movie.

Weeks ago, I posted premiere date information, the official trailer, and reviews on the Survival Shorts blog on this site in order to encourage people to see the movie. I was sooo excited that it was being shown an hour and a half from where I live in Georgia. I ordered tickets online for the time I wanted to go. I went.

Now for my review: Because I had read the book twice and loved it, the story made sense. But, honestly, if someone has not read the book, they will miss most of the story's impact, philosophy, and message. The film was OK, but the actors playing Dagny and Hank were, frankly, boring. I think the movie is a let down for an avid fan of Ayn Rand. I am still glad I went to see it; it satisfied my curiosity, but the story is too big for a minor director or producer to handle. Overall, I would give it a B-/C+

it is a mediocre showing and then part way through the story the movie just stops....
and a sign comes up saying part one.
there isn't even a partial conclusion.
                    rip off.

i will not pay to see part 2
i will pay 2.99 in the el cheapo basket at china mart to buy the dvd.

                        2682nscovell- Amen to that!

I would actually like to see the movie, but sadly, I am finding out that I may have moved to Mayberry. And instead of a small town of people, I am finding more and more, that the town is filled with Barney's...... LOL, I think God is trying to tell me something.

The nearest showing is over 300 miles from me. Time for a Netflix order....

Does the story line in the movie follow the book?

I would like to see the movie, because I can't seem to read the book. The author is a very "wordy" writer. When it takes most of five pages to describe Mz Tagarts' walk through the station, I just lose interest.
