    When it rains it pours

Yes the site was down, we spent a lot of time on the phone with the hosting company trying to fix the problem. Unfortunately the first gal's solution
was NOT a real solution, so half the day Sunday was wasted. Every time I was being told "the changes are made and in effect but they can take 2 to 24 hours."

So how long do you wait?

You don't want to be the impatient rude customer that calls back every 2.5 seconds cause in the business world that rarely works to your advantage.

Long story short, we are good to go, sorry for the problems. In the next few months we will begin working more redundancy into the site- a second and completely different host to perhaps "mirror" the site with, that sort of thing.

I can't control everything, I've tried, it never worked out well :) In the end, even the machines are run by humans and we all do make mistakes.

Apologies for the site being down today. As I said, we'll be working on adding more redundancy soon. Any suggestions to that end would be appreciated.

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

Just give you an eerie feeling when these sights go down - one gets a little paranoid.

it was a funny or more correctly, a sickly feeling this morning, when i saw that the website was down.
        --
        suggestion.. sorry, i'm computer illiterate.
i met a computer nut one time.
he asked me if i knew what a kernal was?
sure... a small piece of corn... part of an ear of corn..
he had a long computer answer.

        guys,
        one thing we can do..
is order a can or a case of groceries from the sponsor.
maybe a water filter or a surgical kit.. would be a good thing to pick up.
these sales will help finance the sponsor and therefore the site.

The site went down right after I posted my video entry for the contest and then the comments started rolling in "the site doesn't work" Glad to see it came up today. Thanks to 1admin for his hard work. I started feeling withdraws when the site wouldn't come up.

My thoughts exactly. Whenever I can't get to a site such as this one, the hairs on the back of my neck go up.

It is a thankless job, for the most part. You provide a valuable and productive service. Don't let it get you down (or at least try not too) , when it goes down.

                  Oh yeah, not a problem.

The fact that 5-7 people from around the country were checking in via email every so often was really helpful in letting me know the status of their fix. I appreciate it.
