first off let me apologize for using your nickname. sorry. no offense meant, and no offense meant by my inquiry.
if you don't mind, i have a question.
when the fellow gave me the 556, he pointed out that he'd paid about 40 cents a round for it.
at that price you are charging $20. for a hen.
40. for one box of .22
and 40. for a rooster.
we are running low on foodstuffs up our way, and we sure want to do business with you.
i mean you've got so much, and we have so little.
i'm wondering. it looks like .22 is more expensive than the 556.
could you tell me what you'd give for a sears and roebuck bolt action .22 ?
maybe i need to trade my .22 and see if i can track down one of thse ar 15's
or do you have one you could sell?
rr
well RR, what was paid pre "crash" and now are different beast. 556 is common. Heck, that was 90% of peoples reasoning for getting an AR15 iirc. 22lr on the other hand was over looked. Heck even i over looked it till the end.......guess yer seeing that now.
tell me how much 556 ya got and i'll make you an offer on what you have.Hate to see someone go hungry.Hey Petunia...you dropped your man pad!

Mr. Bob, sorry to get back to you so late. That town/village about five miles east of here apparently had a couple boys mix it up and a couple boys took a couple rounds...one guy (the young one) had a small flesh wound. The other guy not as lucky, as he took a round through the right calf. Through and through with a .22lr. No hits to bone or vessels, so he was pretty lucky. Problem was he was about 50 and had not taken care of himself before the event occured. Well he was probably pre-diabetic or maybe even "borderline" but he didn't go to the doc, so who knows. He had been living the American dream and with that came all the fast food, so that extra 100lbs didn't help. He has now lost most of that weight and that probably had saved him from being a statistic, too bad that it took a P.A.W. for him to lose it. Heck, the PAW may have saved his life..HA HA HA Don't know how he has survived this far...he's still in poor shape physically. Looked like a heart attack waiting to happen if you know what I mean. I spent a few days up there patching him up. They had heard about me from a passer-by about six months ago that had needed some blister care as he came walking by.
They sent a guy down and asked for help that I had met before the PAW. I have to say I was a little nervous, but had a couple security fellas with me. Well anyway, his leg wound wasn't healing, probably because he has some PVD and maybe microvascular disease from his "boderline diabetes". Needed some biafine, antibiotics, clean bandages and a good plan of care. His cellulitis improved, fever declined and I think he will do well. Hate to think that I may have to do an amputation without anesthesia, but if needed to save a life, oh well....Nice guy and VERY appreciative!
Anyway, I think we can work something out. The word is going to get around and if some of these vehicles that are lining the roadways would get repaired, well people would be able to travel here to a clinic. That little village would like for me to return as there are some others with some nagging, ongoing issues. But, I have to say I was a little nervous traveling, but didn't have time to ask you for security. They came-a-knocking at dark (lucky they didn't get shot, I did fire a warning shot and he started screaming my name) and I knew the guy. We traveled under the cover of darkness so we were a little safer. I was able to obtain three goats (two female and one male) for my services. Like I said he was very appreciative. Problem is, I need to retrieve them. I did get collateral though. I feel that if I was to travel there weekly someone wanting my supplies could set-up an ambush. That's why I would rather set up shop here, inside the wire.
This is what I propose. You provide the CONEX for a clinic and security (I can have a couple of my guys help with security), I'll provide the knowledge and whatever supplies and equipment that I have. I will also need to have access to your medical supplies if needed. I'll also be willing to share my goats with you if you provide the land for grazing and security for when I go pick them up. I'm not a goat herder, so if you know someone that knows a little about goats maybe we can breed them and expand our "herd". It goes without saying that I'll take care of your family's medical care without a fee. Thanks for the eggs, they were tasty. Here is a couple tubes of the cream you will need. Use it twice a day and you should see improvement within a week.Protecting the sheep from the wolves that want them, their family, their money and full control of our Country!
Guns and gear are cool, but bandages stop the bleeding!
ATTENTION: No trees or animals were harmed in any way in the sending of this message, but a large number of electrons were really ticked off!

My wife is an ER nurse, no other services available, I am a certain subject matter expert and can provide exceptional marksmanship training for your sec boys. I also offer surveillance, counter surveillance assets. I don't have much I am willing to part with. Could use few items, rain barrel, whatever, would be willing to offer service in exchange for training: ie gardening etc. Additionally, I am a certified baker. You got flower, salt, water, I can make you some profits.

Offering myself as a subject matter expert in long range accuracy, my wife as a ER nurse (only), and also my baking skills, in exchange for daily rations, and some sort of unit rations, ie. and economy has to form, either in terms of soap, water, bullets, or beans. So, whatever becomes the coin, we want that in order to trade for other items as we can afford them, and as they are available.

bob,
good to see you again.
well i think i've traded for some things that you can sell.
some friends and i have been doing some work for some folks and helping out
over on our side of the mountain. we've had groups come in and act nice, and act hungry, then when my neighbors try to help them the "nice folks" steal and kill. this is bad times. folks don't have money, but they are willing to trade out of things they don't
need!
i found a few folks that need some of that 556.
so i traded off most of what i had.
anyhow,
i ended up with a lot of .22
i've got 10 bricks of .22 i'd like to trade for 5 cases of 556.
how much of that 556 have you got?
also, i've been asked to locate some bmg 50
you got any? how much you got?
i guess its a small round. maybe a little smaller than a 556
i asked what bmg stood for. they said folks would know. i'm guessing
"best machine group"

to the vendors outside first.. just quietly asking.. any one seen a group of men coming through with a young girl. she's not but 17 blond, but looks 21-22. she's a real sweet girl. the men hurt the parents. bad. cleaned out their store house of food and weapons and apparently stole their daughter..
then to folks inside... same question...
a member of the family's group was coming in and saw the men leaving with the girl. they weren't hurting her. but they sure were leaving in a hurry with a truck load of stuff. have you seen her? the mom and dad are healing up. they are at our place healing up. the mom's distraught. the dad... well, you don't know him. let's just say he wants his daughter back real soon.
then to bob,
have you seen her? i'm checking this direction by myself. folks from our valley have headed out in most directions looking for her. i'm worried.
worried for the girl. and worried cause i hadn't seen the fire and this kind of determined look in a few years from these men. they were able to unwind and get on with their lives.
to any who will listen, if anyone sees her, we'd be mighty grateful in any assistance you could give in helping get her back... mighty grateful.

bob,
you've been so kind to help out in establishing a "street value"
you know i traveled in my job before the disaster..
now... i work that same area, just not for the big company.
it started out as folks helped each other... but its turning into an equivalent of
an old fashioned rolling store! i take orders, work out the trade. coordinate the transfer. folks allowing me 10% on
small trades. 5% on the big trades
anyhow, i'm amzaed at how folks are trading with each other...
and you've helped set the prices. i'm leaving a case of wine from "the pond" just as a thank you.
i passed out a bottle each to several of the vendors outside and a few of your guys. you know,
the wine from "the pond" never had a big name, but folks sure like it.
an old geezer that worked at the base keeps looking for linked .50
if you get some extra, holler.
also, i've had a few requests for ar15 s
but now hearing requests for ak47's
if you have either, can you give me a price?
two large suppliers are doing a booming trade
in chickens ( several broiler grow out folks and a couple of egg farms)
are getting into the bartering business over our way.
--
by the way, they found our young neighbor girl that was kidnapped.
the guys that got her were sitting around their campfire talking about
how they were going to trade her to some folks. they were taunting her. the team that caught up to him
listened in for a while. the only reason they weren't taking advantage of her
was that it would hurt her selling price. her dad's doing so much better. her mom too,
now that she's home.
the thieves and kidnappers, well, they were left alive, all but one. it was the mennonite team.
3 of her kinfolk were on the team. they were real upset that one died. bled out before they could bandage 'em all up. it bothered the mennonites, that they had to injure some of the bad guys to rescue the girl.Last edited by rockriver; 07-21-2010, 09:15 PM.
