So lets do a fun lil "WHAT IF" while i dont like what if deals much this one may prove interesting,since it seems to have a wide base of supporters for its use.

This is the set up-

TSHTF- this is a long term event( but your the survivalist doesn't know it) everyone thinks "all will go back to normal some day".
There has been an economic collapse and break down of law and order becuase of a pandemic. revert to pre 1900 rural area's. The land is not "lawless" per say but its a village/town run deal now-a-days. think "wild west" to make it easy for some.
The "flu" destroyed infrastructure but has moved on. Now folks are trying to "re build" society, one town at a time. The .Gov is non existent- think "jericho" and is spread to the limit- aka- protecting the higher cl*** from us peasants.

Your scenario- after a year or so of living off your mnt house,mre's and can goods you start to run low, your wife miss's shaving her legs and you really wish you had a bottle of scotch. your neighbors says there's a "flea market" opening up........your not hard up yet but your starting to really run low on some items...raised beds arent what they are cracked up to be and you've only seen one deer in 2 yrs.......So you pack up some items and head out..

So now we have a new mega store in town. See there's no walmarts now and one guy got smart and horded/collected/salvaged all he could prior and post event.

land- we "own" 250 acres in various areas around town- could be that farm you need to start to grow food. these range from 1 acre to 20 acres.

pip boy 500. - we all laughed at these back in early 2k's. Well we have TWO . One working and one that is damaged but could be used as parts.We now there was only so many made prior to the collapse. It is basically a personal wrist held cpu. These are a tad bulky, but not too bad. It is a military model,again only a few were made and we cant say how we go it.

Assimilated - Infantry-Protection-Equipment- aka "Ape " suits. We have 10 of these. They are unissued, and manufacturing dates show they were made prior to the collapse of the north American provincial government in2013, but unused during the battle of Detroit. Best way to describe this stuff is a mixture of armor,load bearing equipment and electronics.Again, cant say how we got it.But it'll make ya look like robo cop ( wonder if anyone remembers that movie....)

security services- we have a skilled for "rent" team. Of course, they are for security only. They can not be rented to take "over" your neighbors farm.While contracted to you the ROE is set and can not changed.

outside my gates are private sellers( think ticket sellers outside a concert/race/event) i don't not have any control over them and they are run off by my security teams(hey gotta corner this deal ya know). YOU may try and barter with them ( ill play the gouger), you may get a good deal or you may get run off(or worse)its a roll of the dice.

It helps playing this also if folks try to think through their needs at this point in time. If your CURRENTLY low on a certain caliber of ammo, if you find that you have no canning jars, etc. then those things should guide what you "trade" for.

In the same respect, don't conjure up things you don't have to trade with- "I'll trade you these 17 solid gold bricks I have in my bedroom." LOL

The point of the post is to try to work through the intricacies of an actual negotiation. Their is a point to it more than just the fun. What has "worth" to you may not have as much "worth" to the other party. You have to "sell" them on the worth of your item, etc.

More often than not it's these "people skills" that are always lacking when the discussion of bartering comes up on the net. This is what we are trying to work on in this thread.

I could provide fresh filtered water and the ability to recharge rechargeable batteries or devices. Also since I have power I have a 26 cf fridge and 15 cf chest freezer. I could accommodate another fridge and freezer and make ice etc. or barter out space in them for cold storage. I also have a spare 1500 watt inverter and two 6v golf cart batteries that can be used for a few hours and then returned to be recharged.

I have noticed that there are quite a few people with some different medical conditions in need of help. Mostly minor injuries, but potentially serious. As we both have seen over the last year or so even the minor cuts and injuries are rendering people useless for extended periods of time as they recover and some have taken the extended dirt nap for lack of just some basic supplies. Those nasty little bacterium can be pretty deadly at times given the right situation...and lack of knowledge and supplies. Heck if they only knew what to do with a little sugar or honey and their wounds, some may still be living. Of course, there are only limited supplies left and of the supplies left very few people know how to properly use them. With your security and what medical supplies you have plus my knowledge and supplies, maybe we should start a clinic. To show good faith, I'll treat your rash gratis, but if I cure your rash in less than a month, heck I'll say three weeks (I know your woman would appreciate you getting rid of it fast as it has to smell pretty rank about now), I get a rooster and 3 hens that are in good health. If this sounds acceptable to you, lets talk and see how this symbiotic relationship could benefit both of us.

sounds good. problem is if we set you up in a clinic we'll need to build it. The chickens arent a problem, but man power is......pablo aint what he used to be. Anyway. I have a 20 foot conex that is not being used right now, could that work? Do you plan to set up shop here? Outside the wire?
If so i'd hate for part of my "medical" investment to get raided... maybe for now we can do house calls and send a secuirty team with you? We can set up a sign in sheet etc for folks to put down what they need/want and their location...maybe wise to get a copy of your pre event credentials incase someone gets stupid..hate to have to hang ya becuase mr.morris says you sewed him up with a clamp still inside him.. LOL wow..malpractice in the PAW.....

LD and security says your g2g on your skill base. I want you to be part of our security team a trapper/tracker/hunter could come in handy.

Let see....you work for us when we need you...your family can stay here protected while your out with a security team- free of charge. They will be fed,sheltered and taken care of. If the hunting trip/secuirty mission takes longer than 4 days they will be given a "credit" to get supplies in place of your "payment"? If by chance something happens to you...well...they'll have a credit, and job here with what ever skills they have. Medical treatment on you will be free.....to an extent,same goes for them....to an extenet ..i know you understand......after all i am here to make a profit for when things get better.....



As to the meat.
I will need to know how much ( pound wise) you can produce each month. I have monthly plans and meat other than T-bone will fit the bill.

chickens are not an issue, we can decide on the amount of hens when you accept.

i noticed that some of those cars dont work?they might be worth a whole lot more if they did right?i use to work on cars in a dealership before the paw.would you be interested in letting me look at them and tell you what i think they need to get running?we can work something out for trade as i fix them.the cars that are hopeless though id like a chance to see what i can salvage off them for myself though also.

October through January on a part time basis I can provide 400 pounds of meat a month. May have some possum thrown in. Don't forget there are alot of uses for all the fat that will come with all those animals as well. I'll accept the part time job with your security team. I think ill need a pair of goats as well.
