  • Mideast- anyone care to speculate????

We've seen some "changes" in the mideast lately. Anyone care to speculate on what more is going to happen, what could happen, etc. etc.

I thought a nice "what if" would be in order. Where's RockRiver when you need him? Come on brother, chime in here!!!

      It's gonna be a lot or a little...just depends.

I hope that clears it up for ya.

      Just kidding :D.

Speculation is all most can go on right now. News out of that region is pretty interesting and things seem to just escalate. I think that the Egyptian people feel that they have won but let's see what their military will do...they are the group who is truly in control.

Unrest spreads rapidly in those regions and having seen the outcome of what happened in Egypt I tend to think other rulers may do things differently. Like Iran seems to be doing, "nipping it in the bud". You know, stopping things before they get too big.

Egypt still lacks one thing, a defined leader. No one rose from the ashes so thats not good for their cause. The radicals have clear leadership and will attempt a takeover soon or the Military will continue to rule.
Iran will beat back the unrest as their Military and Police will not hesitate to crush them as thats how this regime got started so he's not gonna fall prey to his own game. I don't like the man but he's not to be underestimated. Jordan and the others lack heart and will go quitely into the night.
Oil will continue to rise and even if we drill our own it won't matter as we lack the refineries to process it.
We will have virtually no role and if we do the CIA will botch it just like Iran and Panama and some more pawn American Soldiers will die.
There ya have it, on my way to buy a ticket and enroll in weather forecasting now! LOL

The very best analysis I've heard about Egypt was made by Niall Ferguson who educated the obviously biased talking heads on MSNBC. Mr. Ferguson 'told it like it is'. This is the same man who wrote "When Money Dies: The Nightmare of Deficit Spending, Devaluation and Hyperinflation in Weimar Germany"

Anyway, this is a video worth watching.

well if it involves Arabs, and it does, FUBAR is usually the rule of thumb.

Yesterday I heard a clip on the radio that was pretty funny.

First they played a clip of either O or one of his talking heads saying that the "Muslim Brotherhood was a secular organization." Then they played someone- I was to say Bolton- say "well of course, with a name like MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD why would we expect them to be anything but a "secular organization."

The stupidity of the libs just appalls me at times.
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

And now Libya, Bahrain, Yemen, Iran........................
There is going to be a huge power vacuum, and I fear it will be filled by radicals. Oil is the lifeblood of our economy, without oil we become just another third world country. Radical muslims would love to see that happen.

The underestimation of what could be happening is scary. I too lean towards the FUBAR side of things. I suspect Israelis are busy building shelters and buying bullets. The only saving grace to all of this, if you can call it that, is that there is so much unrest, that in order for them all to move against the west and/or Israel if there's a power shift that wants that direction, they will need some time to settle down and get together with their new power structure. This gives Israel and the west some time to regroup. I have every beliefe that Israel is getting ready. Our crew in power here? Oh dear.....

The situation is bad. If Bahrain falls to the Muslim Brotherhood that could trigger Saudi Arabia's fall, both are terrible for us. Libya is having riots too and normally the US would like that but lately Gadaffi has said he wants nothing to do with terrorism. (maybe Reagan blowing up his house had something to do with that) The only good thing about the unrest is that it's happening in Iran too.

Probably might be prudent to stock up on gasoline, todays prices will seem cheap in the future.
