    bar and chain oil....
i haven't bought any in a while... realized i was on my last gallon and it was half full...
(i realize some folks use all kinds of oil and used oil for this purpose... and i will if i can't get the specified oil!)

i started to pull into the john deere dealer. they sell stihl saws, but i know they are typically higher than other folks.
so i went to tractor supply... they had their house brand labelled for 15.99.
i was expecting 12 to 13 $$ so i called john deere and asked "how much" and their answer was 18.35/gallon.

15.99 is better so i head to the check out with 3 gallons. business was slow. sales ladies real nice..
"mam, i was sure hoping to find this bar and chain oil for 12. or 12.29 or something similar."
her response was.. "sir, i can do that ... 12.29 !!! i was shocked and went back getting 2 more gallons....

i think i need to put on my happy face and make offers more often.

That's great, usually the "big box" stores don't negotiate on stuff.

And as far as bar and chain oil goes- I've always used "new" oil, but have used all kinds. One time I should try cooking oil in an old saw- cut firewood and get a hankering for french fries while working! But seriously might add another use for "old oil" when you have to rotate a bunch of it. So far it's been going on the dog's food a little bit in winter to add calories and help their coats.

            Home Heating Oil Prices

Our oil delivery company was doing a repair on the tank today and said he expects oil to rise to $10.00 a gallon this winter. Expect to pay $10,000 for the winter if refilled every 4-6 weeks. We simply don't have that kind of cash lying around. The POTUS has sold our oil reserves to China and the world so that we have very little left for the military or to provide relief. This could be a very disruptive winter in the US. Not sure how to prepare for that. We have food, water. He said they are a little concerned that some of the trucks might be hijacked, last year someone tried.

That will amount to many thousands of dollars for home heating oil customers this winter. We used to burn through about 600-800 gallons/winter. There are already thousands of delinquent accounts in this area alone. Will TPTB opt to bail out consumers, or will it be the utilities getting gubmint checks? Something has to give and soon...

I have heard rumblings of another stimulus coming....but will they wait and use that as a lead in to the CBDC?

Our electric co-op sent a notice saying that the cost per 1000kw hr is going up another $19.60. That means our average usage of 1500kw hr/month is going to cost us almost $300. We've never had a bill much over $200, and the "old" average was about $120/month. Yikes!!!

bride is dehydrating many persimmons every day. satsumas and lemons are turning orange and yellow... satsumas will be ready in another week or so.

this is one way that a person can cut their grocery bill and possibly provide themselves what is not on the shelves.
but we are looking at a 4-5 year wait to have produce - or more...
we took a big box of persimmons to church sunday. trying to gently encourage some folks to plant their own trees...
several times at church and in other groups we've been told.. "brother, the rapture is coming and Jesus will be here soon. we don't have to suffer. we will be out of here.
and in the meantime, we can get what we need down at the grocery store."

this is a common teaching in our area...
i don't see where that is in His book.
                    yep, i went off topic...
My question to them is...So, what about all the Christians during the Great Depression in 1929? Was there a rapture and all that were left were the unbelievers?

went to west coast recently... gasoline regular 5.30 and up.
checked on real estate with an associate... ex: nice house 880K bought 18 months ago. now selling for 1.1m... owner got an 2.95 loan... now loans are running 6% sales are beginning to decrease. there's a lot of difference in a loan at 3% compared to 6%.

one family has a "special needs" child... we met their caregiver who works a 40 hour week to help care for child. cost is 800 plus per week! that service would cost a whole lot less in georgia/alabama.

went to a restaurant last night for a celebration. I would say this restaurant would be considered a nice one, but is not considered a "high end" like a Flemings or Ruth Chris. WOW!!! what a scam...Italian cuisine, so pastas, etc. The four (two couples) of us had pasta meals, two with beef and the other two without. The ravioli came with six pieces but cost $28...had a bottle of wine for two people and the others had a sangria and prosecco. Service was okay but waitress was busy. No desserts and only one side salad. Total with tip $400....We have eaten at this place several times in the past and for two it would be maybe $100 and that would be a bigger meal, with 2-3 drinks each and two desserts, and better service.

Wow! We haven't been out to eat lately except for Chick-fil-A when my daughter & granddaughter were here. The dinner time traffic around here is too busy for us. There's a nice Italian restaurant we like to go to, but just haven't been inspired lately. Maybe at today's prices, we'll just eat at home!

                            100. each...
at a coin show in florida with a couple who had really helped us. several years ago.. maybe 8-10 years...
i think they called the "fun show" or something similar... they wanted to go to ? fancy dancy steak house.
the bill for bride and i was well over 100. no alcohol...
i'd planned to buy their meal till i saw the prices... that was so far out of our eating out budget.
                            the food was good, but..
