i took a 9 hour road trip each way with 3 other guys... (biguns!) in a new dodge 1500 truck. loaded with all the options... with the hemi...
the bed was loaded with coolers that were full of hams, butts, beans and drinks and ice. .
we ran 75-80 on the interstate and got 19.4 mpg... i was amazed. 180 miles of trip was not interstate. 19.4 overall.
i wish my chevy could do that. owner said list price was over 45k... and it was a 2wd...
whew!

Best mileage I ever have gotten was with a 1981 Chevette with a 4-cylinder Isuzu diesel 5-speed. My best was 53 MPG, on I95 for a NS run. Same engine was put in Chevy Luv trucks, try to find one now. They all have migrated south and end up in small villages running generators and pumps.

I drive a little cheap Hyundai which has been a very reliable car for me. It is supposed to get 30/ 37 MPG but in the city. I have more of a lead foot than I should. On the highway I've gotten 43 on many occasions and even 51 once. My 1992 Dodge W250 with 360 SB and NV4500 gets 15 highway and 11 city. Unless I put it in 4WD. It automatically gets 10 regardless of my driving habits.

Been tooling around in an '01 Saturn recently, getting around 32 mpg. But since my work commute is 7 miles each way, it's just getting warmed up. On the highway, it gets right around 37-38.
