  • Blending in Vs. sticking out.

    Which is better. An everyday car that has been modified to work after E.M.P. and maybe with some defense or something like an old armored car from the 60's or 70's. The point I am asking about is do you give up blending in for a "Fear or Uncertainty factor" to possible enemies? I searched and there is nothing on this. Is it a personal preference or is there a consensus?

    i believe in the blending in theory, for all aspects of prepping. don't believe in making myself stick out.
    Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

      If post EMP is like One Second After, if your vehicle is moving - it will be attracting attention.

        I agree with MustangGal and EX121. Unless you're well out in the country I think it would be possible, maybe likely, that the city or county would quickly spot your vehicle and commandeer it. I live in a small town and if I were hardening my vehicle for post EMP use I would hide it in my backyard in case I need it for a possible bug out if things got too dicey here...and I wouldn't say a word to anyone about it.

          Lower the profile the better when it comes to survival. It is like wearing camo in the city. You are putting a target on your back. Blend in and get out. around where I live a pickup truck is blending in. 4x4 even more so. Nobody thinks a second thought about someone with a rifle rack in the back of his seat. My best blend in outfit would be a tan pair of Dickies shirt and pants. You look like you are working for power company or such. I like to keep things in Dark tan or Earth since it makes for best blend in any environment. GB

            yep i love these people who buy a deuce and a half or big rv and think they arent a big bullet magnet. You can hear a duece a mile a way when it fires up and is changing gears. Not exactly stealthy. Stay Gray blend in.

              which is exactly what several are talking about doing....and the oversize unhardened duece and half bullet magnet is slower than most vespas with flat tires on the takeoff not mention many have no idea of the common issues or the how toos of fixing one or getting parts or even how to start it much less run the gear patterns if the plate is off the dashboard etc etc etc

                Drove deuce and 1/2's and 5-tons while I was in the A.F. Went 215 miles in Canada on a dirt road. NOT FUN!!!! Talk about sore kidneys. People look at them and think 'how cool'....lots like other 'tacticool' stuff. I'll stick with my Chevy 1 ton with lotsa spare parts :-)
