how old is the battery in the equipment

had postponed a job moving dead trees and limbs.
job requirements kept growing.
went to get tractor with grapple at the park.
dead. barely turned over... charger on "crank aid" wouldn't do it.
checked battery - it was the original from dealer. bought in 2018.
hard to complain. 7 + years in equipment. best storage this tractor had in 7 years was open pole barn.
always started on first turn of key.... last couple of times. it took 2 or 3 turns.

getting a new battery.
called original kubota dealership. "yes. we have one in stock. 158. plus your old one." 2 hour drive.
called favorite independent battery dealer. they had one that "would fit" but specs weren't as good. price $10 under original dealer factory battery.
called local kubota dealership.... "we sell battery source batteries. cheaper than the factory model and just as good... price 175 plus old battery."
i don't like local kubota dealer... only 15 minutes away but prior problems with overcharging. and now telling me theirs is just as good. nope.

so. getting the factory model. yes. long drive. but hoping to get 7 years use again!

what if the shtf, i'd need this thing to crank!

The 12v battery in my 15-year-old hybrid finally got replaced for the second time this year this year. At $300 for a new AGM, I hope this one lasts!

the rest of the story.
i installed the new battery and the tractor cranked immediately. i put it up.
then several days later needed the tractor and it cranked but put out a code. p 0606
internet says maybe the ecm or ecu is bad. but maybe just a bad battery connection... !
so, i disconnected the battery and reconnected.. ..... several times.. code stayed...
called the dealership... got someone who had helped me by phone before.
this time..."rr, you need to bring the tractor here. it must be solved on a kubota computer hook up."
folks, i really like this dealership... i have a kubota dealer reasonably close but always problems and jacked up prices so
i don't use the nearby dealer...
!! but , now i learn that i must load the tractor on a trailer , take it to far off dealer and have them hook it up to their
kubota computer and go from there.
what... the compromised tractor with its computers is cranking and driving and appearing normal. but constantly says code p0606
and since i was driving distance and an older tractor at the park where i work was also a 2012 kubota and it's battery was even older .. i traded it out also.
older tractor likes the new battery and NO codes... doesn't ever show a code...

2 lessons for me.

if and when i'm involved with buying another... tractor... get an older model... the 2018 tractor has shown a fuel code several times... kubota adfvises me it's because of
poor quality fuel . hmm... the 2012 tractor has never had a fuel problem and gets juice from the same source as the 2018!! if not an older model then get one with as minimum of computers as possible!

this problem... the internet answered the question. "how do i clear a bad fuel code on a kubota model xxxx?
?? not sure why the code displayed.... but my best guess, is that when i disconnected the battery, the computer didn't like the loss of power.
typing in the fuel clearing code... worked. the p0606 code went away... i did not make a 4 hour round trip to have dealer solve the problem.

is there an underlying problem. i hope not... time will tell.
