How many of you work out with your gas mask if you have one?
Prior/Current Military, Corrections and Law Enforcement, Painters, Firefighters and some Construction Workers use respirators or masks in their duties. Some have strenuous work/task to perform while in them such as wrestling criminals or carrying people of of harms way. I occasionally workout with my mask, not at my local gym mind you (opsec), but breathing becomes difficult quickly as soon as the strain is on. If you wear a vest, body armor or even coveralls your core temperature can quickly rise as well.
As you begin to sweat your mask will fill up with sweat and you will begin to feel that waterboarding effect which can also add mental strain as well as the physical strain. It is important to learn how to work thru this. You will need to learn how to clear you mask after dumping the water or having it ripped off your head during a fight. This is easy enough to find instructions on the web for your type of mask.
Shooting with a mask especially a long gun can be a challenge as well. The firearm may need to be tilted sideways to see the sights clearly.
Do you have a way to wear glasses with it? Contacts are not recommended during an environment where a mask is needed because some chemicals can actually lodge themselves between the lens and your eye damaging it. What are your vision limitations with it on?
Putting your mask on should also be a part of your workout as it needs to be accomplished quickly. Incorporate it with doing yours then someone else who is playing as though they were knocked out then drag that person to safety and provide cover with a firearm. If you are lucky enough to have your own range go ahead and engage some targets and reload with it on. That 35 second to 2 minute workout will leave you gassed and with labored breathing.
As with all workouts be careful with your heart rate and breathing. Good Luck
