So, working malfunction clearance drills on the pistol with my son and I started up'ing the ante a bit showing him how to work the same via one hand.
That's just crazy Robert. Is it? What happens if you get shot in one arm, shoulder, etc. Give up and die? Naaaaahhhhh. Clear the gun one handed, fire every round you have, use the empty weapon as a striking tool, then go (1) hands on from there if need be. Give up? No effingham way!!!
Typical malfunctions you will see- failure to fire, failure to eject.
Two hands, both are relatively easy. One hand only, a bit more of a challenge.
One hand ideas/options-
1. Rack slide against holster, catching the rear sight on leather or plastic and pressing downwards.
2. Rack slide against belt, pants or back of shoe as alternate to holster.
3. Stick back into holster- or if kneeling pinch between leg- remove magazine and go to step 1 or 2 above. Some jams will clear easier without the tension of the magazine there.
4. With magazine out attempt to rack slide multiple times quickly.
The problem shown in the pic came up when a spent casing- loaded back in a mag to purposely create a malfunction came through. During the one handed clearance it fell downwards somehow and got mashed up there.
Ideas for clearing that- USING ONLY ONE HAND. It was stuck in place.
With enough hand strength one can grip the Glock in such a way as to pull the slide back with the same hand that's holding the gun. I get close with this, but not close enough.....
