Max Velocity Tactical offers Physical Training Plans. These plans have been developed in partnership with Hunter Allen of Peaks Coaching Group. For years, I have talked about how important PT is to your ability to win the fight. Your survival depends on your level of fitness and the fitter you are the more chance you have of winning the fight and surviving. When a disaster happens, nobody is going to care how much beer you can drink or if you watched the latest football game on Sunday. They will care if you can get yourself into position over the other side of the ridge, and flank the marauders. Or if you have to abandon your location and hump your gear and your family

Got my TAB (2 miles with 30+ lb. ruck and rifle) down to 20:56 the other day. The teenager that loves to mess with his dad telling him he's faster and stronger than him had a significantly higher time and looked like he was shell shocked at the end of it ;)
I'm teaching him how to ruck.www.homesteadingandsurvival.com

I'm in the 3rd week of the RC plan. My best 2 mile so far was 27:75 . The training plan is pretty good and I can see a big improvement already. Never been much of a runner but I'm pretty sure that I will be able to make the 2 miler time.

Isn't 27:75 the same as 28:15? I think you made a typo, maybe you meant 27:25? Glad you're seeing improvement Dennis W, keep up the good work.Originally posted by Dennis W View PostI'm in the 3rd week of the RC plan. My best 2 mile so far was 27:75 . Dennis- you beat my 14 year old so take heart :)
He gives a good (bad) example of "letting go" when rucking. He hunches over where he shouldn't, drags feet more than should. When I finished mine, went to the house dropped pack and rifle and went back after him I found him 1/2 mile out, structure all mucked up, hunched over, legs moving all crooked, etc. I went over again good body form while rucking and he finished the 2 miles with me helping him through with his form.
He's a hard head- gets that from his grandparents ;) but I told him he'll have a helluva time every time we do this if he doesn't work on his form.www.homesteadingandsurvival.com

The training plan from Max & hunter is pretty good. I'm in week 3 now and they seem to be working more on endurance. This week it was to do a jog/ run for 60 min. with no pack. Some days it is based on time, others distance. The pack weights very from none, 10lb, 20lb, or 30lb. Today with no pack I did 1st mile in 11:30 and the 2 miles in 24:30. Total was 4.36 in 60 min.
You might want to let "the boy" build up to the weight.

This week was a good example of the weight difference. Sun & Mon the plan called for a 6 mile tab on both days, with a 20 lb. pack. I did not push as hard as I could have, knowing that I had to do 6 miles, but Sun I passed the 2 mile mark at 29:05 and on Mon it was 30:30.
