  • Beyond Razor Sharp DVD Review

    I supported this kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...arpening-video

I got the video a little over a week ago.

We all have seen people shave their arm with their knife but usually that is done with the knife touching the skin (not cutting the skin). Patrick shows you how to make your knife sharp enough to cut the hair WITHOUT even touching your arm. I was impressed with that, I had never seen anything like that. He shows you other various testing methods with newspaper.

He shows you how to use Japanese water stones, sharpening serrated blades, curved blades (woodsman/kukri). He also shows you a low cost way using sand paper as well as mechanical. He covers maintenance of your knives as well.

I am happy to announce the Digital Download is NOW AVAILABLE! Introductory cost of $15 for the first 100 TSP listeners!  Look for the

How is the effort -v- result equation? Does it take a lot of time to get BEYOND razor sharp, or is just damn sharp good enough at 1/4 the time and setup?

It depends, sorry couldn't help myself. He said if you have no edge at all it will take you hours to sharpen the knife. IIRC I think he said that if it comes "sharpened" then it doesn't take too long. I have some kukri's that have no edge so I would use a belt sander or something along those lines before I took them to the water stones.

I will re-watch and write down what he says about time frames.

If someone wants this as a digital download and didn't get in on the kickstarter - instead of it being $21, using a coupon code it can be $15. http://mtknives.net/product/beyond-r...ital-download/ is the link for the digital download and trollhunter is the coupon code. tsp720 is another coupon code that will do the same. Then when going to download, mine opened in my browser and I right clicked and saved video (it is an .mp4 format).

I still need to finish watching it, to give an accurate thought to it. I've been working on canning and some other fall projects at home. I'll try to finish watching it tonight and can post my thoughts about it after that.
