so lil up date on my entrance back to in shape land.
i was running again 3-5 days a week till this week(my back started acting up).
those that dont know i blew out my l5 and tore my l4. didnt go under the knife but it messed my nerves up on my left leg. anyway..ive kinda babied myself.
well i got over confident. was doing 2.4 miles with my brother whos 4-5 years younger than me and about admins size.
he bailed on a am run so i went alone. 11 mins 45 second mile. not pushing hard just steady pace.my times pre injury were 10 min avg without pushing 8.5-9 min miles was my push times.
so i think i can get back to 10 min miles after time.
    anyway..got home,,,grabbed the dog,,did another 1,3 miles...and new i had flamed something up lol toes numb,,leg spasms..etc.
,so i switched to my bike. 5 miles in the am and at night..nope still flamed up. so i took a break for 5 days.
    this am i wake up
"yeah babe..just gonna warm up..stay loose etc since im on call..."
plug in the i pod..flogging molly cranks up...sit on the bike and start....15 mins later im on full resistance...80-90rpms.sweating,,wife looks at me like im a tard.
i back off the hill mode...
i pull up my phone..check emails,,startt reading internet junk...jamming out still.
i notice im just singing along sweating....look down at the cpu screen on the bike 32 mins passed wth lol
8 miles....90 % of that with some sort of resistance..

my luck ill wake up in the am..butt sore,,back hurting lmao!!!

that said 3 weeks+ of back at it ive dropped weight .

whats funny is even after running my bp doesnt go to high. after that last run session i think i was 132/76 bpm 74.after several mins i was back into the 56-65bpm range and low 120's.
oh well.....i dwell to much on that junk...lol

so im hoping i drop some more...

Don't bust your back over it. God only gave you one of those! Now if you break a leg, you can hop down the road for exercise, but without a back it's over.

When you heal up, try the same workout with Albanach...L4/5 sux, and that is 65% of back troubles... Build the core to compensate.

Get well, you are such a biotch when you have oowies and booboos...

Why you think I traded off that chest rig LOL 6 mags plus extras and three liters plus extras put to much stress on it.
        LOL
I do OK...crunches...stretches ..push ups ..light weights ...the run ..bike is for the cardio part...gotta keep that part.

I'd rather deal with a busted leg or arm....but its what I was dealt....thanks working in ghetto land LOL

I hear running an AR saves weight .....hmmmm.....:) LOL

I agree with LD3. No sense in re-injuring yourself. You'll just end up a skinny dude in a wheelchair with good blood pressure. I recently had a "moment of clarity" myself after pushing my ankle too hard in judo. I jacked my right foot up after getting thrown. It was my own fault, I didn't fall properly. Made me realize at 48 y/o that I needed a reality check. I need to figure out better ways to train that are not as hard on the body but still keep the important abilities like conditioning, timing etc as sharp as possible. At the end of the day I just don't heal as fast as I used to.

To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Mohammed and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly what he was around the year 700, while we have kept on developing. Here, I think, is a text for some eloquent sermon on the virtues of Christianity." - General George S. Patton, diary, June 9, 1943.

Life is too short... A healthy life, if you are lucky, is prayed for. What must it have been like to live hundreds of years back when creation was pure, the air clean, and chemicals in their natural order, like the lives Noah, Abraham, Adam lived? At 48, I am just beginning to LEARN, and passing it on is hit or miss... I could use another 100 or so years to really focus on some stuff...

Yes, a reality check happens to most people eventually.

Rmpl, I'll raise a toast to that brother!
