Nope but kudos to his parents for giving him a really cool name!
"One cannot but ponder the question: what if the Arabs had been Christians? To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Mohammed and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly what he was around the year 700, while we have kept on developing. Here, I think, is a text for some eloquent sermon on the virtues of Christianity." - General George S. Patton, diary, June 9, 1943.

would love to but he is way over on your side of the country. Besides he insists on like 500 rounds of ammo for your rifle and with the cost of ammo these days I just use dry fire training and xbox, it's almost as good anyways!! There are a couple guys closer to me that run some classes Sierra12 out of Phoenix I am considering doing their team movement and patrolling/SUT classes.

              Your gonna love it Dennis!

Just got back from three days there that included the Tactical lifesaver class, the rifle manipulation primer class, the Night Optics firing class and then his flagship class, Combat rifle contact drills.

I'll write up a detailed post about it soon. Getting caught up now from being gone for almost a week.

Suffice to say, people should attend this training.

I will say this (not to Dennis but to everyone)- MAKE SURE your weapons handling skills are on a decent level before signing up for the Combat Rifle Contact Drills (CRCD) class. A couple people at the class were not up to speed with weapons handling skills. Those people should have taken his CRM class FIRST as they clearly needed it.

I believe Max is going to make the CRM class a pre-requisite class to the CRCD, and honestly he should.

Even if you've trained a bunch, understand that EVERY instructor is different and little nuances are different from one instructor to another. I went to the rifle manipulation primer class SPECIFICALLY to pick up this info on differences. Some instructors want you to move muzzle up, some muzzle down, etc. Knowing how the instructor wants to see stuff like that ahead of time, versus coming flying back from a contact drill with the muzzle straight up when they are wanting it straight down, is a good thing.

You should be looking at these "little things" when you train at a new place. This will help you get the most out of the training. I spent the time and money on the Rifle Manipulation Primer class specifically for this. I did get to learn/re-learn some AR clearance drills and the fifty seven types of malfunctions common with the AR. I of course was carrying an AK. But Yes I was a good boy and didn't speak up at this point.

Max is a very high speed guy and you WILL get your money's worth going there. You will be tired at the end of the day- PLAN for it. I would recommend against camping there if at all possible. The couple of guys that did camp there looked very ragged and you NEED to be as fresh as possible, well rested, well hydrated and head fully in the game to get the most out of the training.

Max posted Monday I think, that anyone who was not already scheduled will need to do the CRM class first unless they meet some other requirements. My daughter is going with me and we will be working on her weapons drills all summer. I started a workout program when I signed up in May. Been hiking 3 times a week and am up to 3 miles with the BB and Patrol pack. Once a week I go as far as I can with the ruck also.

Dennis your in good shape you should do fine physically.

Nothing there was extremely physical. That being said, you and I are FLAT LANDERS. There is NO flat land there. The trudging up steep hills affected me more than the movement with gear on, etc.

There was a couple guys in the class I was in that clearly would have benefited more from taking that CRM class first. They were changing magazines with their right hand (they were NOT left handed or doing left handed manipulations), they were not familiar enough with their weapons, etc.

When a guy with an AK (you know, that everyone says is so "slow to reload" compared to an AR right?) reloaded quicker than the entire class 95% of the time, clearly some folks would have benefited from some prior weapons training.

The biggest handling related issues I saw were things like taking the right hand off the pistol grip to work manipulations, extremely slow reloads concurrent with a "WTF?" look on the face of the user, every AR there jammed at least once over the course of the weekend and one went down with a catastrophic failure during the final scenario. When an AR did have a "normal" stoppage it seemed like only a few where able to clear it quickly. On the pop up targets- all of which were engaged under 100 yards- some were plowing up furrows in front of the target instead of getting solid hits, etc.

Basically these were the folks that could have benefited more from simply attending the CRM class first.

When someone shows up with high dollar gear, camo, a rifle with nice optics but the rifle/optics aren't zeroed , I get a clear impression that they could have benefited from previous training before coming to a more advanced class. #1 if they had done some previous training with that exact set up, everything would already be set.

Here again, that so called "inaccurate" Kalashnikov platform shot a fat cloverleaf on the zero target while some of the $2K black rifles were all over the paper. Moral of the story- it's often the operator not the platform. I even brought the wife's AK without optics and shot that to do the zeroing.

They prefer muzzle down in movement. Some places (for whatever reason) yell at you if you don't move muzzle up. Don't ask me why.
