  • Other Exercise

We often concentrate on exercise involving combat fitness but it doesn't always have to be so. In order to keep from being beat up, sore and tired all the time and avoiding the couch sometimes "fun" stuff can be done. Anything besides just sitting around is better than not doing it because you don't like it. It doesn't replace the other exercise but enhances it.

I've been doing auqu-xise for about a year. It not just water aerobics but resistance exercise done in the water. I like it because it doesn't put a lot of stress on the joints and you are able to get a full body work-out.
Maybe not as fun as throwing a heavy ball at pins but fun.
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

Interesting, didn't know what that was till I just looked it up. Water work is always a good workout.

Another "work" but "fun" workout that I did yesterday was sawing wood. I know most people would consider that duty, but for me it was fun because felling the tree was also an exercise in "how do I drop this without taking out the well house?" So an exercise in physical as I had to hand saw several parts and climb up the tree as well as mental exercise of dropping the perfect placement around structures that couldn't be destroyed.

However, five hours of running a chainsaw tends to take a toll when you aren't used to it. But still was fun to get outside and do different exercises for a change.

Yep Grand, homesteading in itself is usually a boatload of exercise!

Me and the boy got to the gym early the other day.

"Wanna put the gloves on and work some stand up?"

          "Sure."

I popped in a CD we both like and we started going at it (me about 50%). Worked from the clinch a little bit also. He likes to look for the "big shots" and I like to take a bunch of "little ones" but make em count. We were having a great time.

Instructor walked in later as a couple of other guys were stretching. He says "I love watching them go at it."

It's pretty much the only "sport" type activity we really ever do. It's ironic to know your son can (and has) choke a grown man to sleep, fights adults regularly, but can't catch a football to save his life, LOL. He's just never showed any interest in it. I should have pushed towards some things like that early on, but I didn't.

I'm usually the most relaxed and the most calm after a good night of sparing, it's kinda weird.... when I was out for a little while when I was injured I felt all knotted up, all stressed. I'm guessing I get a lot of the "little stuff" out while doing these things.

We haven't bowled in years but probably should. We usually ended up dropping $10. on the "Terminator: Salvation" 2 person shooting game while we were at the bowling alley LOL
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

                Rock wall climbing

The kids and I went to a rock wall climbing business called Rockwall Gym. It's built inside of an old grain silo and has many different courses from beginner (down to 5 yrs old.) up to advanced. You get to learn: teamwork, physical fitness, the belay system, you will learn what your physical limits are and its interesting and fun to try and go past them!

In the last year I've learned some and I wish my manly pride had not kept me away from it because the stretches and body control are awesome. I still have trouble with the footloopness factor it seems to draw though so I just keep my stuff at home cause I have diarrhea of the mouth and shouldn't be in public some days anyway LOL
