  • Active Shooter training

I know a fortune 50 company that is providing active shooter training to its employees. Hopefully they test them like the teachers were tested.

better to live with lessons learned in training than to die in combat.
Sad referring to going to daily work as such isn't it

Very true but at least people will get an idea of what they may do in a crisis and may carry that over into other parts of thier lives.....but I doubt most lessons will stick. To me, that's the sad part.

Doing a "surprise" drill like that is a recipe for disaster. The reason is because the tester wants to make it realistic, so that people believe it is a real active shooter. If there had been an armed person (even armed against policy) they may have (and really should have) fired live ammo at a role player armed with a fake gun or firing blanks.

When police agencies that know their stuff conduct any kind of force on force training, there are controllers wearing items which identify them as such. All controllers and participants are ordered to disarm and searched at least twice to ensure they are unarmed. This includes not just guns, but knives, tasers, mace, and batons.

Most small to medium size companies don't even have a policy regarding things like this, let alone carry out drills. Good on any company that cares enough about it's employees to consider what could happen and do anything about it.
