I've been using these in my combatives course for a while now and they are great!

The folks I train with use the NOK knives but these are more in line for my needs/wants.
These feel great in weight and balance and the grooves in the handles are well thought out. The blades can be chalked but there is really no reason IMO because you know you were hit unless you are wearing armor or something.

Got some of these over 10 years ago. You definately don't need the chalk although if the clothing is loose it will help show where some light hits are and how quickly you clothing will be damaged as well as the body under it. In a knife fight, it's almost a promise that everybody gets cut and these will help show that.

That same style of fighting knife is out there also, and IMO, is a pretty awesome fighting knife for around $100. or so. Always nice to have your training weapons match your real weapons for familiar feel, handling, etc.

The NOK knives and the aluminum type ones are preferred by a lot of places that work more knife disarms. Reason being the rubber knives will bend more and the others will not, which does come into play with some disarms.

Don't forget to train empty hand against knife also. Knife vs. knife "dueling" type training if the most fun, but also probably the most unlikely.
