I was reflecting on the pencil sharpener tinder maker test that I had done and shared with the forum this morning on my commute to work. I was thinking about how well it would work with big gloves on trying to turn a stick in the sharpener and hold onto everything. Then I thought about no gloves and trying to start a fire, not a fun proposition especially right now with temps down in the single digit.
Then I got to thinking since it is so cold out how many are out there training in these temps? Some of us might go out to do some cold weather shooting or to go hunting but who is going out there to try and make a fire with bare minimum or no gloves or _____?
We'll go shooting and hunting in proper clothing but will we go practice life saving skills in cold temps with less than perfect clothing (no gloves or no coat or both)?
Goes back to failing with a safety net that has been talked about on this forum. This mornings reflection has definitely challenged me and I hope it has you too.
