I had to renew my CHL license. There were people barely getting hits on target. One guy asked me 'you must shoot a lot!'. Yes. I train. It's my responsibility as an armed citizen to be as proficient with a weapon as I possibly can. Go shoot folks. Excercise your rights and get as good as you possibly can. I know its hard, i work ALL the time, but its my responsibility as someone who supports and excersises his second amendment rights. If you ever have to use the skills against someone, you have to be good, the bad guy just has to get lucky. Get out there folks! And take some kiddos with you! Teach them firearms safety and accuracy before the television, media or rappers do.

And not only train, but make sure those around you are trained as well:

This could have ended up completely wrong and like one of those stories we all keep seeing about man hunts for missing girls. Good on the mother for teaching her daughter at a young age how to protect herself.

        ETA: Loved this comment

Gun Control: The theory that a 12 year old girl found dead in a closet, raped and strangled with her own undergarments, is somehow morally superior to a 12 year old girl explaining to police how her attacker got that bullet wound.
        So true.

Again, bravo on the girl and bravo on the parents.

Training, even competitive stuff is not about being better than soNso its about being YOUR best. Excuses of well I dont have this or that dont cut it. You will have what you have on that day. You will not suddenly turn your weapon of choice into something else it will remain the same. When you get "out there" you learn. Even the days I won some of the competitive stuff I still played things over and over because I knew I could have done better. Excuses of well I dont have time dont cut it either, those badfolks you own defensive weapons for have time.
