I disagree deeply with NEWER FOLKS using the guard pass they show here. Very easy to get triangled or arm locked with the one arm extended towards the neck and the other trapped between the legs.

It is a valid pass, but the arm that is extended should be holding the belt if possible.

Too easy to get triangled from there without some control.

A double stack type pass would be better if you were set on bringing an arm back....

This is what I saw on tv and mentioned here a while back. I can say while it's not perfect it's a huge step upwards from the training, the ole Austin Powers hip toss and judo chop will solve everything Bravo Sierra, or total lack of training we had during the cold war and with the weak generals with aspirations of politics. I honestly do not remember which guard pass they taught us when we went.
I can tell you that it was the ONLY H2H training the majority of my unit had because sadly the trend in the pre war military is much like the current trend in preppers to avoid the hard stuff that requires dedication of personal time, pain and work and besides i'm just a_________ and and i live here ..... and i'll never need this anyway because i'm invisible yadaydayda. In fact even after the S had HTF several whinybehinds had to be lined out by a grumpy ole Plt Sgt to include a few Officers whos vocal attitudes in the sand pit remained the same even though they knew what they were heading to. They then had to fight that Plt Sgt and show their ppt commando skills
Like he says during the show: "will this win wars, NO, but the learned attitude and skills will". He stated that this applies to everything in life, if your willing to go all the way here then other things will no longer seem that hard.
The instructors we had were very strong on encouraging training well beyond what they were teaching because they stated that it wasnt enough that it was simply the best they could give given time constraints.

Ha ha. I remember the DI's telling us that. I went to Benning in '91. The instructor in the video said they revamped H2H in '95. I was out by then. Does anyone know how they dealt with the soldiers who had all this before 95? Did they retrain everyone? Just curious

What they did in our case was to run everyone thru before deploying as a required measure. I cant say what happened with everyone else though
