i'm not sure how much anyone has done of this but i think its important part of anymones training if they plan on using bob and have a rack system/ mollee vest etc. now you can be in great shape but if you aren't accustomed to walking long distances over varrying types of different terrain with weapons, gear, and your ruck or back pack then you'll be sucking at life when you do have to do it. its more mental then anything, i consider myself in pretty good shape, but every time i go on a dismounted mission with my three day ruck i feel like i want to die, this isn't really from a lack of pt its just that if you move over distanses with a heavy bag, kit,and weapon its simply miserable. you can train for it but you'll never get completely used to it. that being said it is important to practice this so you know what to except.

just something i thought i'd bring up since im jacked up on pre work out stuff still and can't get to sleep. if you do think this is a good idea and start to ruck march once a week or so, make sure you don't just do flat terrain even though that is so tempting. don't over do it too, start with a easy three mile at a 20 minute pace then work your way down to 15 minute pace over flat terrain for 6 miles or so. i wouldn't suggest trying to start out with a 12 mile ruck at 15 minute mile but that wouldn't hurt it if was your ultimate goal. this might help you rethink your bob too, it might seem a great idea to have 600 rounds of extra ammo in your bag and six days worth of food and water but if you drop dead from exhaustion at mile 2 it won't do you much good.

Good reminder. I always find that even if I walk alot and then carry a pack my hips really hurt. I think it is from needing to balance different while loaded. Also just carrying a rifle makes a great difference.
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

I have the same problem ex, if left unchecked it could lead to pretty bad lower back pain like i get. Hip strengthening excersices help. Another idea is to use a balance board, its basicly just a board with a ball under it in the middle and you try to stay balanced while shifting your weight. Balance is important when you're packing alot of weight otherwise you'll be taking alot of tumbles on rough terrain. oh i would not suggest ruck runs though, they are horrible for your body.
