  • Krav Maga Israeli Fighting Method

HAVE ANY FELLOW MEMBERS TRAINED IN THIS METHOD? HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU?

I'd not heard of it before and find it fascinating.

I have done around a week of it. I had a 2 day course then a few 1 day courses. When they teach organization or groups it's usually done within a few days and it can be picked up quick. Some Gurus discard it because it doesnt take a huge amount of time and effort, doesnt score points and doesnt make you look cool. It is probably one of the best for real world fighting if you do not have to "control" someone like a Police Officer or Corrections but still has applications, especially if you are overwhelmed with badguys. It teaches quick, hard, down and dirty then break contact. It works outside of the sterile enviroment of the ring and without learning fancy katas or complicated moves. It was designed for the tight quarters of the market squares and streets and even in combat gear. It teaches the most violent reaction you can muster up rather than a slow continum of force matrix and is not lawyer recommended because it works. There are a few similarities in it and Jeet Kun Do, Bruce Lee's Style (hope i said that right) with motion meeting motion. Dont expect fancy belts, gear or awards, alot of professionals that deal in violence or deal with violent people take it.

My brother is former recon, he has shown me a few things , it's very effective. But, hell I fight dirty any way( when you're the youngest of five boys fairness goes out the window and it's all about surviving).
Carry as little as possible , to obtain as much as needed.

Would it be recommended for people of smaller stature, for example, a woman who was 5'3" or 5'4"? And would a person of smaller stature truly be able to use it successfully against a larger attacker or multiple attackers? I have heard it mentioned on another forum that I read but never seen it in person. In all honesty, in my mind I just do not see how I could possible hit a man who was larger than I hard enough to make a difference and I consider myself pretty strong for someone of my size. Sure if I could get a good groin shot or catch a knee or hit him in the throat than maybe.

        Thanks,
        SC

Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.

Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

I thought more about this and why I incorporate it into my fight but it is not my total package. I will go on record and say i'm by no means the be all end all in fighting, certainly no Grand Master and have had my a.. handed to me on numerous occasions and expect it may happen yet again but these are my thoughts:
I have stated several positives about it already so here are some negatives.
We were never shown any ground methods, everything was based on standing and keeping your feet. Going to the ground is going to happen, this style tries to avoid it but in my experience especially in environments where stuff is laying around you will fall.
I stated above about it not being lawyer approved. I will elaborate a little. If SHTF or you think you are gonna die then all bets are off, do what ya gotta do. However if i used only this style then at 6ft 215lbs my last confrontation in the wallieworld parking lot woulda had me striking in the throat, groin and decapping the knee of a man 15 yrs older than me at 5ft1inch and 125lbs who was just having a bad day. That woulda bought me some close and personal time with a lawyer trying to milk his next vacation, deputy jailer always a pleasure and one on one time with bubba the gentle giant manlover. Instead i used a flashlight with a strobe to disorient and cause fear of the unknown which didnt even buy me a visit from the manager.
This being said i still think it should be in everyones toolbox because of it's positives
