    Protective Mask Training

    So here’s the deal I had to step out of the box a little. I don’t have private land to shoot and train on and it’s been about 2yrs since shooting with a mask on so I needed a solution because not training is unacceptable. We set up the small steel swingers and stepped into the garage (for OPSEC purposes) and used BB guns. The basics of marksmanship still apply, it’s quiet, it’s shielded from the neighbors and it’s all I can do for now. The rifles still have to be canted sideways to acquire the sights and shooting on the weakhand side requires a little more because of the filter. The sound of the BB is easily heard for hits.

    So when is the last time you trained with the mask?

    Would the filter hose extender help in this? It would give you about a extra 24in. on the filter.

      Never cared for that, in the Military it was ok for crewman but not once you leave cause it just gets hung on everything as you fight in the bush. I have engaged full size sillouhette out to 300 canted with no issues, it's just harder

        @Matt,
        That is great idea... I have never even thought about trying it! Thanks!

        I know nothing about gas masks but if you are trying to breathe through a tube (either through a filter or unfiltered) the longer the tube the more effort it takes and I am not talking slightly if you try to breathe through a 6" long tube and then compare that to 30" long tube there is big difference, 1 or 2 breathes no problem but if you spend an hour or 2 or 24 breathing through one it makes a difference.
