I had the opportunity to go to a Tactical Response Fighting Rifle class in October. It was pretty enlightening. I have been shooting for a long time and I have my CHL. I felt it was my responsibilty to be as proficient with my weapons as I possibly can. The guys at TR really open your eyes to the fact that there is a difference between shooting and gun fighting. It was a two day course that covers basics as well as team tactics. There were police officers, military, even people who had just purchased their first AR the day before. Everyone learned alot and had a great time. We went through about 1300 rnds of rifle and 250 rnds. of pistol ammo. I went home with sore legs, sweaty clothes and a huge smile. It was a blast! It was a great experience and I just thought I'd share it with you guys.

Sounds like you had a great time and perhaps learned a thing or two. Good for you.
Any specific new tactic that you learned that you would like to share? Believe me even the smallest of things may benefit somebody (even me) on our great forum.
Thanks for sharing.

Yessir. The one thing that helped me the most was one of the instructors taught me trigger re-set. When you squeeze the trigger, imagine yourself pulling it all the way through the backstrap. Then you let it out till it clicks, not all the way. This really helps if you're having a problem "snatching" the trigger. This was probobly the best thing I learned. It's small, but noone had ever taught me that. I consider myself a pretty good shooter, but this made a HUGE differnce. I found nyself shooting even better right away. I'm still training myself to do it every time,(old habits die hard) but I'm getting it. Practice, practice, practice.
There was also a drill where you start with a fully loaded mag in your rifle and pistol. You fire at the first target. One shot with your rifle. Then transition to your pistol, fire one shot. Reholster your pistol. (closing any retention divices) Shoot one shot with your rifle. Transition back to your pistol, fire one shot. You repeat this until you are out of rifle ammo, reloading your pistol as needed and finishing off with a tactical reload of your rifle and scanning 360 degrees. Great for muscle memory!אני אעמוד עם ישו וישראל

They have a fighting pistol class in May I think. I'm considering going. I'll probobly end up doing it. They have 'introduction to fighting pistol'( I think it's called) and 'advanced fighting pistol'. The classes are back to back if you take both. Four days of brass flying!! Man I need to get permission from the boss and set up those classes.Originally posted by Klayton View PostWOW thats close to me... **lightbulb**אני אעמוד עם ישו וישראל
