Ran today, Couch to 5K, Week 3 Day 1.
    Here's the workout schedule:

Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then do two repetitions of the following:
    • Jog 200 yards (or 90 seconds)
    • Walk 200 yards (or 90 seconds)
    • Jog 400 yards (or 3 minutes)
    • Walk 400 yards (or three minutes)
Pretty tough on me because I didn't eat right this morning, just had a cup of coffee, one of my kids leftover bowl of golden grahams, and a lot of water, and I mean A LOT! Breakfast can get away from me fast if I don't watch out. I ran and immediately left from running to pick the middle kid up from preschool. When I got out of the car, I almost bonked. I was completly out of leg energy for a second, and almost fell. PHEW! Glycogen is your friend folks, no more running for me without a Tablespoon of peanutbutter first!
When I got home I was hungry, and chowed down on a roast beef sammich.
    No honeybuns!

      100 Pushup challenge Week 4 Day 2.
Did a bunch of pushups today, over 100!
I am in column two of the challenge, if you are familiar with it.
      Did each set:
      20
      25
      20
      20
      Max out (min 28) 30(!)
I did 30 on my max. I rested 90 seconds between each set, except the last. I rested 5 minutes before doing that. I have found that if I recover a little more before the last set, I seem to do a little better on the next day. I'm not as sore the day after the workout, and I'm smoother on the first three sets the next time I work out.
      YMMV.
      No honeybuns for this kid!

        Almost too easy!
Must be the lack of honeybuns!
I'm doing the timed version, not the distance version. I'm working to get to the point where I can do from my house to around a local lake back to my house in under 30 mins. That's ambitious, but once upon a time.... I could do better than that!

This is what Day three, Week 4 of the 100 pushup challenge looks like for the second column:
          23
          28
          23
          23
          Max (at least 33)

I did 33 for my max, and haven't had a honeybun in 4 weeks!

                Week 4 Workout 1 Couch to 5k:
                Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
                • Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
                • Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
                • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
                • Walk 1/4 mile (or 2-1/2 minutes)
                • Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
                • Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
                • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)

I had to write the times on my arm to keep track of it all:

                ArmNums by qrprat77, on Flickr

As a system, it seems to work pretty good.
When I got home, I walked around for a minute, loaded the sleeping kid into the car to go get #2, ate a quick peanutbutter foldover sammich, and took a bunch of vitamins. When I got home, I had a salad.
                I feel full, and alert.
My back hasn't pained me in a while either.
                Hmmmmmm.

                  100 Pushup challenge, Week 5 Day 2
This is where things start to get interesting.
8 sets of pushups today, with a 45 second rest between each set (longer before starting the last set for me)
                  Here's how it breaks down:
                  18
                  18
                  20
                  20
                  14
                  14
                  16
                  Max (minimum of 40) 40
I can't seem to break out of the minimum for my max rut!
Just pound them out and I'll be ok.
Got the ol' blood moving tonite!
                  No honeybuns either!
                  That's what winning looks like.

Ok, So I did run yesterday, but ran right next to lunchtime, and had to ride out and get #2 from school.
Week 4, Day 2 of couch to 5k:
                    Week 4 Workout 1 Couch to 5k:
                    Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
                    • Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
                    • Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
                    • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
                    • Walk 1/4 mile (or 2-1/2 minutes)
                    • Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
                    • Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
                    • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
Ran pretty good, did huff and puff a little at the end, it was warmer than it has been in a week or two. Felt good that afternoon though.
Also did the 100 pushup challenge today, here's how it broke down:
                    Week 5, Day 3 Column 2:
                    18
                    18
                    20
                    20
                    17
                    17
                    20
                    Max (min 45) 50(!)
I had to work hard tonight to max out at fifty. There was supposed to be a 45 second rest time between each set, but I rested about 5 minutes between the last two. Had to so I could finish it on a high note.
Supposed to do another test Monday to see how far along I am. We shall see!

                      Day 1, Column 2:
Five sets with a 1 minute rest between each set. I rested a little more before the next to last and last one this time.
                      I needed it!
Here's how the sets break out:
                      40
                      50
                      25
                      25
                      Max out (min 50) 52
It took a lot to get these done today, but I knew sooner or later I would have to face the music right?
                      I did them!
                      Tomorrow is a running day.

Still on the road, just stumbling a little due to steroids, no not those, the ones my dentist prescribed for when he gave me an implant. They are making me feel sick and I can't stand it. I'm hoping to reboot Monday. I'll still be taking the 'roids, but hopefully I won't feel as cruddy as I do now. Right now I'm a weird tired that won't let me sleep :( Ugh, I need some help and prayers.

I just read through this thread for the first time, nice job with hanging in there with the workouts! You are so right in that inertia is our enemy. I find that the older I get the harder it is to maintain a regular work out schedule, although I am trying. It is just so easy to prioritize other things above it and then before you know it you are out of time for the day. However, I have been recently motivated by having to help one of my brother's take care of my 81 year old mother. She recently fell while my father was out of town and ended up bruising her tail bone. Long story short, the doctor told her she needed to get up and get more exercise. Due to her lack of exercise her muscles have atrophied over the years and she is unable to do steps of any kind and has terrible balance. My motivation is that I do not want to be having those problems at her age. I am looking closer to 50 every day (wow, that is kind of scary writing that number down) and it is not going to get any easier by putting it off.

Keep up the good work and dedication!

I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
