    Headlamp Solar Cooker Attempt
My son wanted to see if a sealed self-contained headlamp assembly would pasteurize water. The test failed however we learned a lot about reflection/refraction and angles, water amounts etc. The idea seemed sound being contained, sealed and able to move the lens in the direction of the sun.
The test was a bust but the experience with my son was not!

    Still learning every day!

Wasnt me, it was my son's idea! 21yr and thinking outside the box. The kicker was it could be transported as is without removing the water but alas it failed. Still an improvised 64oz canteen, provided you wash the bugs off the outside LOL.

        Hey Matt

Just like using a Fresnal lens to heat water the light will travel stright thruogh the water without tranfering heat. You need somthing black or dark to absorb the heat to transfere to the water and getting it upto at least 165 degrees.
When an emergency is upon you the time for preparation has past.

Yep, we got that figured out pretty quick. When we began I told him not to be suprised if it didnt work but we wanted to give it a whirl.
