The following is a great article by a Brigham Young University Professor Steven E. Jones and others on making and using a Solar Funnel Cooker. You can build it for nearly nothing.

It is well illustrated and very thorough. He even discusses assembly, cooking instructions and times and even shares how he bakes bread in a 2 qt Ball wide mouth jar in the SFC in winter in Utah!

Will make a great addition to your preparedness library. Enjoy.

tried a bare minimum setup yesterday and today
used my pickup windshield reflector this weekend and a 1 litre black pot with lid and have failed. I tried putting a milk crate with a clear trash bag over it today to keep the heat which helped 10 degrees but still a fail IMO. I'm not getting a focal point on the pan the way it is set so I'm gonna try different stuff. I got this off the net somewhere and wanted to try it as a minumal setup. I'm only gettin the 1 lt of water to 150 degrees. It was a good try but the angle is all wrong and I think i have to much water and not a clear enough screen.
I think i will try and build a box one or do the funnel method with less water for my next one. I just want to build a scrap setup nothing fancy.
