Ok another use for the Yucca plant leaf (https://www.survivalandpreparednessf...ighlight=yucca ) and another needed skill, SEWING. I have deployed too many places and in most stuff happened where gear, clothes or people needed repair and the resources are not always there. This is a way to use something from your GMHB/BOB and a natural resource to do a temporary job. The leaves here are green and would be better in late fall if they were drier or we had the time to dry out the thread after removing them from the leaves. I hurried this process to show that it can be used raw and to get the video out. I sewed my bag up where I had assaulted it with my knife for another posting (https://www.survivalandpreparednessf...ighlight=edged )

I took a picture to show the stich. This is just an example of a temporary field job to hold till a good sewing machine can be located.



Sewing is a needed skill for repair of everything and just pretty handy to have for everyday use. I hope there are some bugin survivalist who have things to add about how they are going to sew or maybe some other field skilled sewers who can add to this.

I sew very well using real needles, real thread and a real sewing machine. However, using a fish hook and a yucca leaf is something I've never even thought of. You are very creative. And, just so you know, I'll remember this in the PAW!

You can also rip apart a piece of para-cord and do the same thing. It's seven strands of thin string surrounded by the nyon outer.

yep, I was trying to use a natural resource so I can save mine. paracord, fishing line, dental floss, bankline which can also be broken down finer, kevlar thread from the body armor, even removing the hem threads from sleeves and reusing it on the repair job.

I do a lot of sewing by hand and I feel that rubing it with wax would let it last longer. just take a pice of wax and rubing it over your thred to coat it. This was done with most thred when sewing till about ww1 or 2 and it seems to have dided out.
