  • Shoveling Snow

Great leg and upper body workout! LOL
seriously 7 degrees with 43 mph wind and a 4ft drift for aboout 25yds to even get to the road. I'm doing 15 minute shifts with the wife timing me so exposed skin doesn't freeze and the sweat doesn't become an issue. Also have to watch the heart rate, seems increased fighting both temp and weight of snow. It's also good for the mind too, it's keeping the cabin fever down.
This should be what my driveway looks like when i'm done, say around May LOL
    Stay safe everyone

It just started for us. I won't even bother with shoveling until it stops. Gave away some emergency blankets to coworkers :)

Yet another reason we moved from Maryland back to Texas last year.

YAHOO was 75 degrees yesterday after I got out of school, went home, put on some shorts and a t-shirt and went to the movies with the Mrs. :)

Dad called: "boy we are getting 11 more inches of snow tonight."
Me: "Dad I told you, sell the farm, move to Texas, I am sitting here and thinking about turning on the air conditioner."
              Dad: "NO WAY!"
Me: "Yeppers! Dad you guys stay warm up there, dont be afraid to refill that oil tank if it gets below 50%!"

Funny thing about 4x4's they get stuck better, everyone thinks that because the have a 4x4 they can do anything, what they forget is that the axle and the pumpkin catch all the snow and unless they can clear the snow they just get stuck.

Mechanic friend of mine used to say 4x4's get stuck better, he owned a couple himself. Lift kits don't get you clearance (they just lift the body of the truck), you have to increase the distance from the axle to the ground.

Workout complete, dug out, unstuck and managed to find a "snow route" to the main road. I've seen some funny stuff with 4x4s lately, I can only imagine post shtf. My sons girlfriend told him "sometimes I think you and your Dad are nuts for all the stuff you have and what you do" but she stated she "loved us and after seeing the stores stripped clean she knew she didnt have to worry none". and the lightbulb comes on!!!

yeah, that light bulb shined a little brighter with my wife after we went to wally world the night before the storm. the shelves were BARE. We went because canning supplies were on clearance. But we grabbed a few cases of water and chow since they were on "sale". Bad thing was - we looked like everyone else stocking up. Good thing - as I explained to my wife we didn't NEED the stuff.
I think I literally saw the the light bulb go up a few.... :)

Also, a MAJOR ditto on the snow shoveling workout. I didn't work out today, but today would have been "back". I think with the shoveling I got my training in....

Matt that's great the lightbulb turned on for her!! Let's hope it stays on and she joins in on the work of being prepared.

Thats why a friend of mine just moved to Phoenix.....Said "you don't have to shovel sunshine."

I thought it was pretty funny.

Sweeeeettt It snowed again last night and we have 2 more coming this week! I'm gonna be a beast LOL, waiting on daylight to go clear this batch. Talked with my Dad who still hasn't managed to get out in a week. They are gonna attempt it today then plan B. Borrow a buddies 700 Grizzly and try and get supplies to them, he said they are ok but see them dwindling down. Plan C Drive as close as I can get then hike it in using the Large Ruck. I'll let ya know how it goes. Sounds like I'm gonna be real strong by spring LOL and the good news is it is suppossed to be warm today all the way up to freezing
