TRC "Trick" 500

Unfortunately what appears to be a great radio, the TRC 500, is no longer carried by Radio Shack. I have searched high and low for a self contained headset 2 way radio and can only find a cheap "toy" type. Does anyone know of a replacement for the TRC 500?

I have not found one yet, my present back up is a FRC radio with a ear bud and speaker, not a great alternative. I have a MURS with a simular set up that is a lot heavier also.

I don't think those have been made in years.

For short range VHF communications their is better options out there.

Replace the TRC 500

It has been some time since I looked at a WW Grainger catalog but we purchased a similar headset package from them for communicating with a crane operator from the ground. Worth looking up. I am sure some other industrial suppliers might have such a unit.

Pfatz, i guess you are suggesting something like this link. Graingers is a great catalog, a little expensive (sometimes), but a ton of stuff.
