Blast match

A few years ago, I made a small pack for the trunk; a get me home bag. Lightweight, minimal. For fire starting, I purchases a blast match to add to my lighter. Every time I check the bag, there is gray powder all over. I clean it out, a couple of months later, the same. Oxidation? Fire hazard? Has anyone else had this problem?

Oxidation. You can vaseline it up to prevent it. Magnesium bars will do the same thing, as well as lighter flints. I tend to think of these items as consumables, and replace as needed.
