  • PASGT Combat Helmet Face Shield installation

Still have old-school PASGT helmets for WROL/Civil Unrest protection of the noggin of myself and family members, and after seeing the videos of the protests in the Ukraine, I saw the dire need for FACE SHIELDS, so I ordered some new USGI ones found on eBay for cheap... They are not the BALLISTIC face shields that are thick polycarbonate and weigh a ton, but they are fairly thick polycarbonate (1/8"), designed for DEBRIS, rocks, bottles, road chunks, brick pieces and the like seen in use by the Ukrainian protestors.

I have had zero luck finding an installation .pdf for these shields, so I winged it. Maybe someone here knows about them...

I snapped the frame onto the helmet lip with the three clips on the shield metal frame. But the back side looks like it could take a strap that goes around the back of the helmet and two yellow rubber bands were strapped to the area where the shield joint is. I have no clue why those rubber bands are included with this shield. Also, the rubber shield that keeps debris and what not from falling down under the face shield into your face has two strap pulls with round rings. Does anyone know what the yellow bands and those pull straps are for????

Are the pull straps for quick removal by pulling down on those rings?

Thanks for the help to anyone who has used these before...

Never used a shield. Is it in the kevlar manual?
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

Nope, nothing about the face shields in the PASGT manual... Here are some pics if that helps...

I am thinking that the rubber bands were just shipping protection and the loops are for quick removal of the whole shield assy if needed by pulling down and away. The back hinge area does have a place for a strap to go around the helmet, I assume, and I may make one to work with it, but even without that strap, the shield is on there sturdily with those three clips snapped over the helmet edge.

These shields offer a nice protection of the face from "Occupy" looters that have not yet met the "lethal force" level... LOL!
