Short movie i did about the blastmatch. I have had this kit since around 03/04. Those on the early hikes knew it well since it was new to the scene and everyone had to try and break it.

These things rock. I got one about a year ago. Like you said only negatives are it's big and expensive. Can't have enough ways to make fire.

Excellent review. I love the blast match. It does not replace all my fire starting tools, but it is a cool piece of gear. I bought 3 of them in the water proof kit, and seem to have paid top dollar. You are good at spotting bargains. Extra weight does not bother me - if it is something that could save a life.
