Whats the point of having and not knowing how to use? You dont have a car and not know how to drive it do you? Having the tools for the job is worthless with out the knowledge of how to use it!

This shows the fire starters and how they lock in.Strouds also behind the mirror has a really small storage compartment and also has a rope wrap on it to attach 550 cord In this picture you can see that grylls knife has the ablility to tie as a spear with little rope used There is a huge difference between the two knives personally I feel that the pros and cons equal out each other. if I had to buy another knife for a bag I would go with bear grylls

Something to remember is these are not "combat" knives but "survival" knives for people that want to be found thus the mirrors, colors etc.

Sharpshooter came by and did some other comparisons.
They both have qualities and issues and both would be a suitable tool for the task of the intent

The sharpener cant be used on the Stroud knife for machetes etc because of the closed design

The weights are pretty much the same

We added some charcloth to the back mesh and some "fire straws" will be added to the container in the sheath

The mirror does work but it really really has to be covered while walking around so that will need to be "fixed"

rgr..i agree..my "survival" knife is a bk7,,with a stone, blast match, and small micro swiss army knife in the pouch..with 550 for the leg strap.i used to carry a maxpedition cocoon on the front of it with survival straw, mirrors, matches, compasses etc etc etc.
but my g81 glock knife is still my favorite.

honestly 10 years ago,,i would have bought one of these..prolly the gerber for its "cool" factor.

My choice of knife is a SCHF 9 http://www.twowolvesoutdoor.com/fixedblade.html because I like a more robust knife. It doesn't come with all the 'bells and whistles' of those knives, but I raither pick and chose what works for me. It is designed with use in the eastern hardwood forest in mind.

I've had the BG Gerber for a while now and it does well at everyday tasks and skinning etc besides the coolios. It cleans and sharpens easily and is a decent all around tool. I do not feel as I bought a gimmick as I have with so many other "survival" blades. As you can see in my post on it that I put it thru the paces before it went in the bag and on my hip for hunting seasons and hiking.
How do these 2 blades hold up in skinning and general camp duties? I've had the Glock one in my hand a few times but had my doubts and Schrade is usually a top choice for me in skinners and hunters. Lemme know your evaluations please.
I'm sure that Sharpshooter and company will give a full report after deer season and some hikes on the performance on the Camillius Stroud. It will pierce the deer hide before the others so we can test it for sure, so we can test it and so i can dull and dirty someone elses knife before mine LOL purely in the name of testing of course:)

I've run both the sharade and Gerber freemen as my skinners. The g81 I've had since 95-96'.. lil light for hacking but does OK.the saw back is good but don't expect to down a tree...great on roots though. Sides that...moral ftw.lol
