  • ps 24 flir thermal imaging

i started to post this in the basics forum..
and then remembered the "gear" forum might be better.

but i now think that a piece of equipment that can give you this capability should be in the required basic list!

i see that jrh has several thermal units. the one we tried out was the ps24 ($1995)
the green in the picture is a thick rubber? padding or armor. controls are easy to learn.
we tried it at late dusk and then midnight dark.
one button allowed you to change brightness.
a second button changed light modes. white background, black background, red for heat.
easily and instantly can change from one to another.

we were in red mode, looking for deer. no deer, no red. then suddenly saw a tallish red form. it was a well water tank. heat in the tank, showed up. there are various strength categories that we haven't practiced with yet.

consider... the wife is hope alone. she hears the "noise outside" or the dog has alerted. she can quickly and easily scan and determine that it is only the large raccoon that snoops around, or she needs to take steps to prepare for the detailed human figure that is slinking around.

    an aid to hunters.

an aid to traveling at night in the woods/rural area.

    get ya one or two...

    Thanks for the review!

These are really nice units and I've yet to have a customer disappointed with one!

If y'all think about it, remind me before the GA and FL campouts and I'll bring mine to demonstrate it.

Yes, I would like to see the thermal in use. I was planning to bring a gen 1, 2, and 3 night vision to show the difference.

I been watching the "Surviving the Cut" on Discovery about the various Special Ops schools (Ranger, Diver, Force Recon etc.) and they were using a FLIR on the Diver class at the final test and it was amazing. You can find these videos on Netflix.
