  • walker hearing assistance muffs

walmart store had a walker hearing muffs for sale.
    usually 50 now 25.
supposedly will magnify sounds. came with a pair of shooting glasses.

    i haven't tried them yet. ??
but, in case you've been eyeballing them.
    they are on sale now.
if they work, added to a set of nv, they should be especially beneficial.

I would love to see a review on these.

I have been thinking about getting hearing protection that actually helps you hear as well as protect your hearing, seems ideal for Range use, as well as hunting or even "Civilian Training". I really want some with "inputs" so you could hook up some comms or radio or cell too.

I have used several brands. They are good and do amplify sound and cut off the loud sounds like gunfire
The negatives are the are not bulletproof and I have broke several sets training, some are battery hogs and when the wind blows, which is every single day here, they are annoying a sit amplifies that sound too.
      Any particular questions on them?

Do you know of any that have an input on them?
Have you tried adding more foam over/around their "mic" to stop wind noise?

I bought a cheap set before I wise'd up and got a pair of Sordins and like most things, there is a reason they are cheap... My issues with the cheapy ones was the way they cut out the gunfire. Since it cut out rather than FILTER the dangerous decibels, it made hearing range commands and conversations off the line jarbled and broken. It was very aggravating! Did it amplify? Yes, in a perfect environment, but add gunfire or strong wind and they went downhill fast...

The Sordins, on the other hand, FILTER OUT the loud decibels, leaving sounds you DO WANT still amplified... Excellent product for any serious shooter. Recreational shooters who hit the range once in several months may be fine with the cheap sets...

No I can say honestly when I tried them for hunting I just thrw them back in the truck disappointed. The range, well I just deal with the noise levels as it's important as an RSO to hear everything.
Sounds like RMPL is on to something with the Sordins

the package i bought was the alpha model.

yes. it does increase your hearing ability.
yes. wind noise was exagerated.. very loud. over ran verbal
yes. big truck or boat over ran verbal..

              i haven't tried them on a range.
but i think that there is a use even for the cheap models..
for 25$ i'll buy 1 or 2 more once i get back to wally world.

Yes, I use them for guest shooters when I go to the range with them...

But for life and death use in a conflict, the Sordins are my choice, I am worth it...
