  • Gear site

Hey Everyone I wanted to share this great site for gear of all kinds:

    http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/Main.aspx?

Didn't know where to put this link, thought the gear forum would be the most appropriate. I have bought some great stuff from this place. Right now they have 2 - U.S. Military 2qt. Canteens w/ pouch for $19.97. I bought a CRKT M16 - 10KZ Knife for $20, it retails for almost $50.

Lots of other goodies at this site too, high cap mags ex. 90 rd AR15/M16 Snail drum.

Is there a place I should have posted this at other than here? Is there a list of sites with the absolute best value on gear?

Posting it here is fine. Just remember because something is cheap doesn't necessarily mean it's the "best value." :)

Point taken. I always try to find the best prices on gear that I know and trust, I don't buy everything from here...however the gear that I have bought from here has been quality with a great price attached to it. I usually spend a fair amount of time researching a piece of gear before I start the hunt on finding the absolute best price.

What Content Management Platform is this forum built on? My church uses Joomla and I am just curious as to this site uses.

      Thanks,

Good words there. Surplus gear should be the minimum grade that you should use . It is well-suited for the most part tobe trusted when you need it. Get the basics covered first, then upgrade to the "Gucci Gear" as priorities and finances permit. But be familiar with what youhave, and use it before you fall prey to the latest ARFCOM thread . Sometimes you would be better served buying and trying out the item, rather than relying on the words of others. You can always sell or trade it away if it doesn't work out.

Frankly, I refuse to buy from Sportsmansguide when they informed me they wouldn't ship to APO addresses. Said certain items were factory direct and couldn't be shipped overseas when I tried to order once. And charging more for shipping to APO addresses. And I'm not talking anything typically restricted overseas either. I'm talking camping gear, packs and web gear.

Now I could have had it shipped to a place in the States and then turned and shipped over here, but I refuse to pay twice the shipping on items I can easily get from other sites.

Any business out there who refuses to or makes it hard to ship to troops overseas serving their country won't get my business whether I'm overseas or Stateside.

qaulity is hit and miss. so is customer service.
            Just dont buy kifaru......LMAO.

Like CTD there is some deals on small items you just have to look/shop.
            example-
SG had 3 packs of fire steels 14$, not bad ferro rods when a buddy showed them to me when i was debating on buying a few
CTD- had a 3 pack of water/hydration bladders-i zoomed in the picture,,saw the name on them and got 3 hydrastorm 100oz bladders with tube covers. 10$ aint bad for 3 100oz bladders.....
SG- back in the day had 2 pack of OD mora clippers carbon steel knives for 14$....

you just gotta pick through the china made bs.
