Ok, I have been eyeballin this on Amazon for months. I finally said the hell with it and bought it. I have been researching lightweight backpacking sleeping bags for 4 months. Even posted a thread here about it. I usually dont camp below 30 degrees and if I do its not backpacking, its "car camping" and I have better gear for that.
About 90% of the reviews on this thing are 4-5 stars. Its not the super name brand, hell its made in China. Most of everything is. When you are on a bag budget and the Kelty Cosmic is $120 looking at you, you make a a decision.
When I opened the box I was happy to see the size, probably the size of a football. The compression sack was easy to open. Once opened I really thought I made a mistake because of the size. I am 6'2 230lbs. I got inside and was pleasantly surprised. I fit well. This is my backpacking/hammock bag so I had to lower my expectations. I could move around good, it covered my entire body and "snuggled" me up. I was in my work clothes and started to sweat after 5 mins. Good sign.
I went to roll it up and it was very easy, easier than my brothers Kelty down bag that I borrow to backpack. You do have to work it a lil bit to get it in the compression sack but once in, tighten the straps and this joker gets small.
It fits in all 3 of my packs and in my wifes pack with ease. It is smaller compressed than the Kelty I have been using. There is no trouble zipping the sleeping bag compartment on my 3900 cu in pack, with the Kelty, its tight.
So far, without using the field, I give it a 4 out of 5. I did jump around in it to test its strength. Seemed pretty good. I didnt fight it, just tapped it.
The best thing about this I paid $38 with free shipping. I know some are against Amazon, I am not. I am ordering another one for my wife. I wish they had a different color but for the price and the size and the weight, I can not complain one bit.
Without using in the wild, I would recommend. I am going backpacking in a few weeks and will update this review
