Today is a good day to pull those tents out of the BOB's, the garage, the closet, the bunker, the truck and clean em out. Put em up, let them air out.
Inspect your poles, make sure none are split or that the string isnt pulled too loose.
Check your zippers, check for holes, check your rainflys.
I found a hole in my super sized tent today. Ish happens when you let your brother in law borrow it to go to one of those hippy concerts. Forget the coleman tent repair kit, good ole duct tape fixed it right up. Also, found 2 split poles. Luckily Coleman gives you part numbers on the tags of the bag.
My other 2 tents were good to go. As well as the hammock.
Always wrapped up or packed up is not how they should be. You gotta use em.
If you are preparing for the "if", you dont wanna find out you have bad shelter after the fact.
