  • Hi Tec Yeti II 200 WPI Hiking Boot and Kelty Goshawk backpack

Got these today on a whim. The wife, kids and I were at Academy Sports "just looking" when I stumbled upon signs that said all winter gear half off. Got me a new "billed tobaggin" for $2, gloves for $2, Merino Wool socks for $4 a pair and as we were looking at hiking shoes I stumbled across these BEASTS!!! They were List of $150...retail of $120. I thought "man, those are some nice boots"....sales guy came up and said they were on sale.....got these puppies for $50!!!!

I put them on to try em out and did some laps, jumps and hard stops. Not bad. Size 13 but not an E which is my size. But they arent too snug and arent too loose. They actually fit perfect for some out of the box.

They look good, feel good. I now have a good week to semi break them in before my winter camping trip next weekend. They are lightweight...(to me) and have a memory foam sole in them which is very comfy. With the combo of the merino wool socks, they are snug and VERY WARM!!!

So, I am going to put these bad boys through the ringer. I am wearing them to work and play all week long.

Stay tuned for the review of 20 degree stompin

So next we go to Target to grocery shop and find out most of the items in their camping section are on clearance....

We get a tent repair kit for $1.38 and some fuel cans for $2 each.

But I see the last backpack on the shelf and its a Kelty Goshawk....the Blue one.

Its 2600 cu inches, internal frame and has a bladder pouch. It is PERFECT for my wife as a GOOD bag and a backpacking pack. She looks good in it too. I packed some stuff in it to fit her for it and it fits good as well. I dont think we will go over 30lbs in it yet but for her backpacking bag it will suffice perfectly. Did I mention it was priced at $70 but marked down to $17!!!!! My wife crapped a brick and literally threw it in the buggy. Great deal!

This is the perfect time of the year to get some good winter gear at good prices. I went to our local Marshalls the other day and got 5 pairs of wool socks for $12. And a case of hand warmers for $5.

Academy had it going on today....wish my income tax check was already here because I would have walked away with some steals!!!!

Boots where put through ringer this weekend and performed like VETS!

Camping in the Appalachians during a rainstorm.

Through mud and much.....didn't lose grip.
I can go at least ankle deep in water and none in the shoe.
I did hike straight across a river thigh deep to submerge them and they are so light they didn't weigh me down walking out.
Once I dumped the water out I climbed 400 more feet up the mountain and no rubbing on the ankles or toes.
Ran down said mountain about 200 feet (Bear Grylls style) which was one of the funnest things I have ever done...and all of my landings were comfy and soft and the ankle support was very strong.

Jumped right back in the river and walked across the rocks and the grip was as good as any shoes I normally river cross in.

And to dry the puppies out, stuffed some wadded up newspaper down in em and they dried out in 2 hours. Got home and poured some baking soda in there for good measures.

All in all, best boots I have ever worn or owned.

Wise Owl Endorses the Hi Tec Yeti II's *2 thumbs up*
