A lot of my stuff is in subdued colors, I chose this because I am not a big fan of being out hiking and trying to enjoy what nature offers only to see a bunch of neon colored packs ahead of me on the trail. I also figure if I ever need to remain unseen it would be handy. That being said items like my primary firesteel an orange strikeforce from UST are high viz. My compas has neon green paracord for its lanyard. My knives are all ESEE's and i have orange scales on some.
I think people chose different colors for different reasons. Some folks prep for different disasters then other. Some have full on combat loads and others like myself have some defensive weapons but are not looking to be tactical. I say to each their own.
