  • Going to try and do a few Product Reviews this weekend....

    Through pic and/or video.....

Just got me a small (perfect BOB) tent today....
    Wenzel Current Hiker/Biker Tent
Sleeps 2 (yeah, we will see about that)
3.4 lbs (Remove it from the carrying case and remove the stakes and poles from theirs to reduce more weight, probably close to 3 even now)
We put it together in the living room and without getting some good ventilation, me and the Mrs. are going to cook like ducks....
Seems pretty sturdy for a $20 tent, and you will need to be near trees in order to tie it up.
No rainfly but I always bring a tarp for my roof and basement.
As long as it is in the low 60's or upper 50's we may be ok....
Perfect tent for one person and their gear. Going to go in the BOB when we get back.

    SOG Jungle Primitive

I got this from the Mrs. for Christmas last year and barely got to use it when we hit the AT in January. I am going to try and make us some seats from small trees and use this to cut them down. I believe with this knife and some paracord, I could make some backpackers Amish furniture.

Knives, multi-tools, packs and gear designed to meet the most rigorous requirements for professional use, outdoor adventures, or daily carry.

    Craghoppers "Convertible Pants"

I came across this company looking for a Bear Grylls shirt. After finding them they have some awesome stuff and the reviews I have read are great. Some of their stuff has insect repellant built into the fabric which seems cool. The ones I have are the navy and only have the solar dry which is a water repellant fabric. I like them because they seem like they breath and I LOVE the elastic waistband. Lots of pockets, not too deep on the front ones though. Because of weight, I will be leaving the lower leggings at home. Also, the ones I have are a lil longer than the ones pictured. I like my shorts to come to my knees because I have some long legs. These were also a Christmas present and FINALLY I get to try them out.

I shall get some "field reviews" on these and maybe a couple of other items and get them posted back up next week

This tent would be ideal for one person, but for two.....not so much. Does not have a rainfly so bringing one or a tarp is essential. Also, the roof is not as tall as they advertise (only in the front) so I brought some of those home office paper clamps and clamped them along the apex and ran paracord through them to have the tent as tall as it could be. And, there is hardly any ventilation. The front has a screen door but the vent in the back is about as big an ant. I would recommend it to someone who is on a budget like myself, if you can afford the good stuff, go with a NEMO brand tent. This one folded up perfectly in the pack and for that reason only will I continue to use it.

This performed like a champ. From cutting up firewood (all under 3 inches thick). Fits perfectly on the back of my pack. The small pocket on the sheath holds my multi-tool as well. Didnt get to cut up some dinosaurs but I think it could cut some Brontosaurus chops anyday.

Pants held up well. The solar dry material is great. Water just beads off. Didn't hold my sweat like my normal cargo shorts. Very comfy. Only complaints are the belt and the pockets. You gotta put a new belt on that will fit through the belt loops. The buckle kept coming un-clipped and my pants would sag a lil, which caused "Uncle Chappy" to come see me....The pockets aren't very deep so you can lose items if you dont put them in the zippered pockets. Having only one cargo pocket kinda sucks..

Katadyn Hiker Pro Water Filter is GREAT!!!! I know there has been tons of reviews on this so I will leave it alone.

We went without Freeze dried meals for dinner and brought a can of black beans, can of Tyson chicken, boil in a bag rice, lime, some onion and a few tortillas and had Burritos at the camp site which blew everyone else away........very light weight and was rather tasty!!!
