  • Poncho/Tarp ?'s

So I am trying to decide material type.

I have found some camo poncho's made of coated ripstop polyurethane. $20

If i make them from coated ripstop nylon material costs seem to be around $20 i'm guessing around 3 yards.

looks like i can buy some coated ripstop nylon for a little over $20.

anyways whats better nylon or poly? i plan to use them mostly as ground cover and tarp, but emergency poncho wouldn't hurt.

    Thanks for any thoughts.

They used coated material to eliminate the fact that your body surface touching the material would decrease it's repellancy.

I use DWR backed material for ponchos and pack covers. Right now, Hancock Fabrics is having a huge clearance sale and material is $2/yd. I have purchased multiple bolts of said same in ACU and three color desert
