I said I got this 2 yrs ago but it was almost 3 now. We bought it when we were at the Grand Canyon. We all already had whistles but it looked neat. I give it about a 4 on a scale to 10 as actually useful. I have carried it in GMHB/Hunting pack since getting it. I killed some time while waiting in the parking lot.

The mirror is small but ok, the whistle is adequate, the light is not very bright, the container for the lint is ok, the magnifier leaves alot to be desired, the compass is typical of a cheapie, the lanyard is cheap cord but durable enough, the thermometer it works but then again who cares, I know when it's hot or cold!

Follow up:
The magnifyer in the "survival whistle" is not strong enough. I was going to go ahead and start a fire in the pit but I waited too long and lost my sun behind the trees. It's still to dry to start anywhere else and be safe. I will do it on a later post.
