  • Coleman Max 115 Lumen vs 300 Lumen CREE

Okay so I just got the 300 Lumen in the mail today. First off its black so that makes it tactical (LOL if you haven't seen the tactical video gotta watch it).

Its about 3/4" longer than the coleman and comparable in weight.

The CREE has an added light function that if you tap the button again the light starts flashing, tap again it stops flashing but remains on.

Brightness - It is NOT 300 Lumen's, if it is then the Coleman Max 115 Lumen is really 300 Lumen. To my eyes they are the same brightness, neither one out shines the other.

Price - Cheaper than the Coleman by about $3.

Shipping - took a little longer to get, it came from china.

I'll see if I can get a video of the lights in operation and you can decide for yourselves on the brightness.

All in all a good light, just not 300 Lumen or I am a monkey's uncle :)

I got mine today and didnt know it was a 2 type battery flashlight. In the short mode you can run a single 123 battery and in the longer mode it takes 2 AAs. I concur with elittle on everything about it. I compared it to a 220 lumen flashlight I have and it was not as bright. I do like it though and the strobe effect, it worked well on a coworker who I caught offguard as a test:)
Now for the test of time and ball bearing test!

I bought 10 from e-bay. 5 for presents and the others for around and placement. They work great. I also got the 800lmn one that takes the 18350 batteries. Talk about power.

@computerguy - can you send me a link to those uber powerful flashlights?

Well I am going to alter my review on the CREE flashlight, I have to add some tactical comments based on what I learned on the Spike TV Show "Practical Tactical" this past saturday morning. It was the Low Light Tactics episode which is available here: http://www.spike.com/full-episode/lo...-tactics/39521

The CREE flashlight has a stobe effect that can offer a tactical advantage against an opponent. The end of the flashlight where the light comes out has a serrated edge to it which can be used in a striking motion to defend ones self. For these 2 additional reasons I am going to buy more of these flashlights. It is still a bright light to look at and its black so that makes it tactical right? :)

The Coleman does not have either of these features, still a good light for the price.

I have both xl50 and xl100, I like them both. 50 not as many features, but in pitch dark can't see the back of the 100
