Sounds as though you have thought and practiced it thru, Thats awesome!
I live in a rural area that I'm gonna have a tough time traversing unnoticed to get home. I'm sure your gear is ever changing and expanding as mine is.

in this part of the country it isn't unusual to see someone walking around with an olive drap pack. i've hiked for 50 miles in a practice bug out with the bag and fannypack without being noticed once, even through town. also, the vest and Garand stay at home and are only going to be used if i have to fight. the rossi packs away in the bag and will only be out if i'm actively hunting.

wiseowl, the BOB weighs 65 lbs. the fannypack is 15 lbs and the vest is 40 lbs with everything on it.

I think this is great and I am "borrowing" some ideas from you.

I do agree with Matt that if you were walking down the road dressed like that you would be a target...but I'll be honest, I wouldn't be in site.

My "get me home" bag. I have a different thought process on it than you do. I hope you don't take any offense as none is intended. I just am gonna share my thoughts. Maybe you can share your thoughts and maybe your enviroment will be a little different to lead you where you are. maybe you can change my mind, it's easily done:) My BOB and GMHB are not the same.

I have a regular hunting day backpack even the kids in schools carry them as "in style" here. I opted for this as it does not look out of place or to military. I figure things will still be fairly stabilized after an event such as an EMP or even the first few hours after a economic collapse. It's that moment of hesitation you see after a tramatic event. After 9-11 I was able to fuel up and get what I wanted because everyone was glued to the tv and even at the local gas station coffee shop they didnt pay me any mind. People don't work thru the OODA Loop very fast that haven't been in the mix. I want to be unoticed and slip thru. It will take me 1-2 days to make it home from work without a vehicle or loss of road usage. Just the price I pay for my kid going to a good school and living my lifestyle. I can't be unoticed carrying a large battle rattle and rifle trucking down the highway. I would become an imediate target for anyone else toting a gun but no gear/food. I can not move fast for long toting 70 lbs of gear anymore at least not for the 20+ miles I gotta go now. There was a time but it is gone forever, 30lbs is more my style these days. I have an option close to work to obtain a long gun if needed but I just don't think I will risk the time it will take to retrieve it. If Law Enforcement is still on the job shortly after the event you will become an imediate target toting too much gear and a long gun. All it's gonna take is one believer in his job and you are public enemy #1. Doesn't make them wrong either. I do like the breakdown 06 that is sweeeettt and a real good idea! Your setup is sweet and a great BOB but like I said I'm breaking mine down a little more and hoping I'm right seperating the two.

ok, it's been a couple years since i showed off my BOB and combat equipment and i've made some changes in that time. therefore, it's time to go through it again.
